So Super T had his bachelor party tonight. Apparently he spent a lot of time getting wedgies from his friends and mooning people (and his boxers no longer exist...lovely). Rumor has it that he uh threw up on one guy and then had beer poured on him for the rest of the night. When asked if he did anything "really" stupid he replied "no just regular stupid." I'm not sure I know what that means (not sure I WANT to know), however payback's a b!tch, so now I'm all excited for my bachelorette party (which isn't happening until August/September when I can drink again). So we're off later today to Vegas. I managed to get everything of mine packed, get my last minute errands done, and was ORIGINALLY in bed at a reasonable hour. However Super T woke me up when he got home and now I'm wide awake (I really had no need to see 3:00am). IP: Logged |

I'm excited for the wedding that I'm in tomorrow. The rehersal dinner is tonight at 6 and then we have to be at the salon at 8:00 tomorrow morning (wedding is at 2). After the ceremony the wedding party is getting on a chartered bus and we're driving around drinking until the reception starts...such fun! Quick question - do you generally wear a dress to the rehersal dinner? IP: Logged |

Dewgirl Housesitter |
Yes. Nothing too formal, just what you'd wear out to dinner at a nice restaurant. EEEEE, Chitown!!! Congratulations a day early! IP: Logged |

That's soooo cool that some of y'all are gonna be watching (wow 6am sheesh)! I will TRY not to do anything embarassing like fall down, faint, drop my flowers, or forget the ring. However I am going to try to find that webcam and make a goofy face for all watching! IP: Logged |

Hooray Chitown! I will be thinking of you! And ironically, I'm going to my cousin's wedding reception tomorrow night who got married in Vegas about a month ago. Now that's kind of a long story, and it's going to be a surprise reception, so we'll see how it goes. 141 days to go for me according to the almighty knot... Feb 21, 12:30 DIGS TIME. (aka, PST in north america.) You haven't missed it. So just keep posting until digs says it's 12:25 on feb 21 and then hop over to the web cam.

oh cool. If I am up at 2.30 on a Sunday morning I am generally far too squiffy to be fiddling around on the internet. I have had the first diplomatic hand grenade lobbed into my wedding planning. I addressed an envelope to Mr & Mrs Friend, and they replied "Yes! All four of us will be there! Screaming Hyperactive Child 1 and Wailing Banshee 2 have already decided which dresses they're going to wear!". My BF is much more diplomatic than I am (my inclination was to say "Wow. 40 years old and you can't read? only people whose names appear on the invitation are actually invited"). BF smoothed it over, saying we just couldn't accommodate everyone's children, and it would be unfair to make an exception for theirs. They got married at the same reception place, so it's not like we could even blame the venue for being unsuitable for children. This woman is notorious for assuming her children are invited anywhere she is - I was horrified when she turned up at a mutual friend's hen party with the kids in tow. I am thinking of having mine at the Golden Cock Boys A Go-Go, not because I want willies waved in my face all night, but because I know the bouncers won't allow anyone under 18 in. I felt like an ogre telling a six year old and a ten year old that they couldn't wear their princess party dresses, but damn, why are people so rude? IP: Logged |

lesliele Housemate |
You know what? I think this happens at EVERY wedding... and I just don't get it. We did the same thing, and no one paid attention to it... except for my step brother and sister in law--- whose kids HAD been invited (my niece and nephew.) When they showed up to the wedding and there were kids everywhere, they got miffed and after my sister in law had had a few she comes up to me and starts talking about her two kids. "You said no babies, so I didn't bring mine..." all angry-like... I still haven't gotten to meet my neice, and she's almost a year old now. Yeah, the only thing I can think is that my mom mentioned something about there not being kids at the wedding, and the sibs thought they should leave the little ones at home. *sigh* Anyway, if it gives you any piece of mind, it wasn't bad at all having kids at the wedding/reception. Remarkably, even the ones whom we thought were going to tear off their clothes and run around screaming in their diapers (like they so charmingly do at home, at restaurants, etc...) were well behaved and non-noticeable. So, yes, it sucks to pay for them, but they don't make as huge of a disturbance as you may think. Make sure you check to see if your reception hall can give you a discount per meal for the kids... most places will, but you have to ask. I think we got all kids under 8 eat free, and then anyone up to 12 for half price. IP: Logged |

Sophie Housemate |
I suppose you're right. I was still pretty surprised, though - I thought it was perfectly clear. We asked about a discount for children and the venue said 10% - I'm not paying X - 10% dollars a head for a child to eat two and a half chicken nuggets and a glass of Ribena, most of which will inevitably end up on my dress, then run around squealing and poking their sticky fingers into the cake and flowers. Since this little episode, we've added a section to our website explaining that we really can't fit all the kids in, but we'll be organising a creche. It got up my nose because these people have a live-in nanny, so are going to have NO problem leaving the kids for the evening, but our friends coming from overseas are all perfectly happy to dump their young ones with a babysitter for the night. This whole thing has made me feel like a crotchety childless witch, but really, I don't mind kids in general, I just think there are appropriate places for them and a very formal evening wedding isn't one of them. IP: Logged |

lesliele Housemate |
They have a live in nanny? Leave the brats at home, I say! Good Lord! I think that making a special page of why you can't have children is just fine... This woman should not be imposing... I was of the impression that this was someone travelling, like most of our guests did, and it would be a special treat for the kids... but if they have a live-in and aren't making any "special" arrangements... then that's just rude to assume they can bring kids. (especially if they are as big of heathens as you say) IP: Logged |

It takes 4 days to get the stuff archived... dang it!! I watched about 8 weddings before I got a little snippet of that... However, if that was wrong, Super T's first name starts with a T... so, theoretically, it *could* be the T.Spear wedding... But so far as I know, Chitowngal's first name isn't Lucia. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hopefully, we'll get to see your stuff soon! Edited to add the "isn't" ... my bad!! [This message has been edited by lesliele (edited 02-21-2004).] IP: Logged |

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Yes, apparently it takes 4 days to get it archived. A couple of people had problems with the live stream. Our last name begins with a P, has a Y and ends with a T. There are pictures up as well, if you go to the far right side of the page under "Order Photos" and then put in the date of the wedding (2/21/04). Ours is towards the bottom and it was at 12:30. I look SOOO PALE, I promise you people I am NOT see through. They caught us making some pretty silly faces though, especially on the last one when it was so bright outside (the one teeny bit of sun we had the whole time). The lady in red is my mommy, the guy in the suit (not tux) is Super T's brother. KirstenLW4 came too which was soo cool and my old boss and her husband came as well (they were in town visiting his parents). So going from a wedding that we though was going to be just the two of us to having 6 guests, it was pretty cool. It was a really fun & short ceremony, but it went by in such a blur that I'm really really glad we didn't spend a boucou buttload of $$ on it. Then we had lunch at the Venetian and then I went to the hotel for a NAP and slept for almost 4 hours!!!! I was soooo tired. We've decided we're going to go back to Vegas each year for our wedding anniversery. However I told him that I had better the heck not be havin' a baby next time because if I go to Vegas again and can't drink I'm gonna be one cranky Chitowngal. We spent Sunday going from casino to casino not winning at all (this my friends is why I play the NICKEL slots, not gonna cry over a lost nickel or two). When Super T was at the craps table I asked him how he was doing and he said "aww I'm just throwing all my money away" I told him we could just go shopping and I'd do that FOR him. He didn't go for it though (humph). As soon as I get my pictures and the pictures from my mom and Super T's brother developed I'll post them. I think someone got a picture of us sticking our (clothed) fannies at the camera!!! Ack, I have a new last name....I'm gonna have to remember that now! IP: Logged |

Yay! Congrats chitowngal! Sounds like a lot of fun. I swear, if it were up to me, it would have been Vegas and not all this s**t I'm dealing with planning. It's the boy that's making me have a big reception! We're about to put down the deposit on the caterer, and my father keeps telling me, "it's not too late to elope! I'll give you cash! Once you pay the deposit it's too late." Every time I call my mom to talk about planning stuff, we end up screaming at each other. Not a good thing. IP: Logged |

yeah, once I found out my mom was coming it got much more complicated and frusterating. Both Super T and I are very glad we did it like this. We were stressed out enough about just this small feat, I can't IMAGINE what we'd be like trying to plan a large wedding. As nice as it would have been to have all my friends and family there, I am not very good at being the center of attention and I think it would have caused me more stress than I could have handled (pregnant or otherwise). I'm sure there will be days when I look back and think how nice it would have been to have a fancy schmancy wedding, but I also know there are days when I'll thank my lucky stars that we didn't. I think either way you go, its a mixed bag. IP: Logged |
