I'm in love with this one dress, but I can't afford to get it (and I don't need it).

It's a bridesmaid dress and even being in 3 weddings this year I couldn't convince any of the brides to choose this dress. I'm distraught. And over-reacting, but this dress is just so beautiful. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you knew of a good site that might sell designer dresses at discount prices. I found one a few months ago and didn't bookmark it.

The dress is by Dessy and it's style 1969.

I've never used them, but bridesave.com has discount bridal and bridesmaid dresses. They have the Dessy dress you like for $173-208, depending on size. Just do a search through their bridesmaid dresses and put Dessy in as the designer.
BTW, I love the way it looks with the long jacket. Pretty!

Who's going where on honeymoon? I have my heart set on Sri Lanka, with a sneaky bonus week in Cambodia on the way home. Apparently you need serious anti-malarials for Sri Lanka - I wonder if any side-effect psychotic episodes will be overlooked as normal Bridezilla behaviour?

My best friend just came back from africa and is still on anti-malaria tablets (because apparently you have ot keep taking them for a month after you get back). Her doctor warned her that one of the most common side-effects was thrush! So she loaded up with loads of canesten and plenty more condoms to meet up with her boyfriend for on a 6 week trip! SDO trhat's somethjing to consider...

But also - does your dr definitely recommend them? I know when we went to to Vietnam this summer, the doctors said not to bother because they make you sick regardless, so if you stay city-side, you'd be very unlucky to get malaria.

But definitely consult your doctor

I mean, can we have a Come to Jesus meeting about those tatoos ablazin'?!?!? I got nothin against tatoos, but wouldn't you want to cover that sh!t up on your wedding day?

Of course, she had a mug shot made on her wedding day, so I s'pose some unconcealed tatoos are the least of her problems.

Bridezilla gone horribly wrong. Ugh.

Okay, S's mom just emailed me, and she has finished the muslin dummy of my wedding dress. I can't wait to try it on!

Can you believe she's making it for $290??? When we went and bought fabric, I was certain it would be twice that, at least.

Soooo excited

Man, if I had something I liked enough to tattoo it on my body forever, I wouldn't cover it up, I'd show it off.

Actually skip the "if" part, I do have a tattoo and I didn't cover it. Heck, it matched my dress.

I have several tattoos, and am standing up in my friend's wedding next year. When shopping for dresses, I asked her if she wanted me to look into covering them up (they are on my back & shoulders). She said no, that they are a part of me and that the reason I'm in her wedding is because she loves me, tattoos and all.

Hooray for non-bridezilla brides!

Okay. I see your points on the tatoos. Why get them if you have no intention of showing them off? I guess, as a non-tatooed person, I wasn't being objective. If I were bold enough to get one, I'd be bold enough to show it, I guess.

some tattoos are spur-of-the-moment drunken mistakes. Those probably should be covered up. (i.e. ex's name tattooed on shoulder, etc)

Yay for you! It sounds like we're about in the same place... I haven't booked my photographer or officiant yet, but I've selected both and tenatively arranged things with them. Dress shopping is next on the list for me as well!

Woot! I think you'd get the short end of the stick on that one, yammers - I never have fun ideas like bocce ball on the beach...

So, me too, I'm married now!!! The wedding was beautiful, all my planning worked out great, and what didn't work out I either a) didn't know about or b) didn't care about by that point!

It was, simply put, an amazing time.

The next day we left for a weeks honeymoon on the Emerald Isle (IN-credible), and now I'm back, looking at a stack of thank you notes that are begging to be written...

yeah... a month... and a day.

OMG.

I'm freaking out. We still have to order fortune cookies, do our CD's, make my veil, get name change stuff done, do the floral topper for the wedding cake, meet with all the vendors one last time... and the list goes on and on.

Oy.

My wedding is in 36 days . . . yay! We bought our rings last night, and then started telling the family, who is totally thrilled. Today I have one friend (who is going to attend, as she is part of my 'immediate family' talking to the Notary Public she works with (that I used to work with) about reserving Halloween for me, and my mom is calling the haunted inn outside of town to see if they could accommodate a party of 17, or at least have a 'honeymoon suite' available for that night. My sister's plane ticket is booked, we're picking out vows now, and this weekend mom and I will look for a dress (not so much a WEDDING DRESS, but a nice dress) and a cake. Woop!

I'm gettin' married!!!!!

Okay, I want to have Dave's ring engraved inside (mine is too small for engraving) with something special that isn't " I love you" or our initials and the date, or something funny (ALthough I did consider "what the?" since that was the title of the sarcastic personal ad I wrote, that he responded to, but he knows I'm trying to come up woith engraving and specifically asked that it be more sentimental than funny). I have 18 characters, including spaces, although really, spaces I don't care about. I can run them together and he is smart enough to figure it out.

ANyway, I'm trying to find some brief expressions that have to do with love or marriage that would fit into his ring, and typing in "engraved wedding bands" into google doesn't do crap for me.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find super short quotes? ("Give me some sugar, baby" won't fit. Damn. -name the movie that's from and you'll get s cookie! )

I wish I could name that movie quote. The only thing in my head is A Raisin in the Sun, when Mama says, "come give your mama some sugar!" I'll have to start using that one some more.
Some rings have words on the outside, called poesy rings. They probably have some sayings that are short and sweet.

"You and no other"....in the old French, it is something like Vous el nul autre. That is very common on poesy rings, and I always thought it is super sweet.

If I was going to get my boy's ring engraved, it'd probably say "Lucky me".

Tricky -- 18 is so short. Without using spaces or commas you could use part of "By us, we two being one, are it." from Donne's The Canonization. I found a lot of great Donne quotes that are 22 letters or so w/out spaces -- "Come live with me, and be my love," etc.
"Take heed of loving me." (The Prohibition)

Shakespeare:
Too bad this is too long: "Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts." (Henry VI, pt II) That would be cool split between two rings.
"Look, how my ring encompasseth thy finger,
Even so thy breast encloseth my poor heart;
Wear both of them, for both of them are thine." (Richard III)

By heaven, I do love…” (Love’s Labour Lost)
“Yet mark’d I where the bolt of Cupid fell…” (Midsummer Night’s Dream)
oooh, I love this, though of course way too long….:
So we grew together,
Like to a double cherry, seeming parted,
But yet an union in partition;
Two lovely berries molded on one stem.” (Dream)
Lovers, to bed; ‘tis almost fairy time.” (Dream)
“This is the very ecstasy of love.” (Hamlet)
“…But never doubt I love.” (Hamlet)
