Thanks-- I picked up a can of the spray. I went for black although I may go back for a different color for a different party. So much Halloween, so little time!

Make sure you do a test!! Chop off a little chunk of hair (if you can - or just use it on pieces underneath). One of my friends went as the girl from the Matrix last year, and sprayed black onto her red hair...it did NOT come out.

Aaah, it's Tuesday night and I need to choose a costume before Friday!

I like to make one from whatever's around the house. I also like to be topical. I am obsessed with the election and really want to be something election related. Hmmm.

Maybe I'll be a Gerrymander, even if it amuses no one but me.

I've decided that since Pippi is going to be an Ewok, I will be Princess Leia, repeating a costume I wore when I was about 8 years old comprised of white sheets and a white turtleneck.

Pollyhyper, ever since I found this crochet braided loop scrunchie pattern I thought it would make great Leia buns if you found the right colour yarn or got hold of some fake hair.

I'm going to go as a sheriff!

It's pretty easy...I'm going to wear a cowboy hat, jeans, plaid shirt (tied up around my waist for a little extra sexiness), cowboy boots, sherriffs badge (from dollar store), and carry a toy gun.

I can't wait - I love Halloween!

I just finished my very first sewing project. I made a cool silver lined cape & I have a mask that sort of looks like the predator.

Boy & I always get dressed up even if we're just giving out candy. We have a pumkin contest. Each of us carves our own pumkin & before we give the kids their candy, we make them vote on the best pumkin. I've kicked but 2 years in a row!

For my costume, I need to wear a lampshade on my head. How can I do this so that it's high enough that I can still see, and it will stay on???

Maybe try to hotglue it onto a headband? That way it would be on the top of your head without falling off, but still staying pretty high...

I am Super Tuesday! I am wearing a cape, I made a Wonder-Woman sort of tiara of blue paper and wrote "Super Tuesday" on it, I have a piece of a calendar pinned to my sweater, and the dry-cleaning bag the cape was in has American flags all over it, so I'm wearing that as a skirt over my pants. I should have some sample ballots, though.

Ok, I need a super hero theme/name.

I planned my costume around a generic mangaish super hero theme, which was just a big excuse to wear lots of pink: hot pink cape, black tank top, pink mini skirt in a towel-like fabric, black mid-calf boots, outrageously pink and glittery makeup and pink ribbons in hair (with silly pigtails)

My fallback is to be the tooth fairy (I just need to make a tooth want with fimo) but I'm not convinced.

Any ideas?

A variation on Lulu's idea... take a headband, but make little wire sticks that poke upwards from the headband, which you then wind around the inside frame of the lampshade so that you can get some height. I have done this to make ears and haloes in the past. I'm not explaining it very well, but essentially you're making a frame that extends from the lampshade frame, making it stand up off your head a bit. Know what I mean? It will probably take some strong wire or a few strands wound together to get it stiff enough.

I decided oh about a half hour ago that I was going to dress up for Friday night sports. My stand-by costume of a 17th century peasant (my mom borrowed it) I'm going as a black lab. Black pants and black shirt. Ears are made out of a pair of socks tucked in a headband. I made a tail with a stocking stuffed and pinned to my pants. I used a piece of electrical wiring to make it stand up.
