Hmmm...Good question. I used to have an electric kettle, but it was a cheap one with a removable top. If the water tastes funny now you might have to descale the kettle. Or something. I have to confess, I don't know exactly what the means or how one would do it, but I have a vague memory of something to do with water, kettles, and the word "descale". Soooo...quess I'm not much help. IP: Logged |

Jinxie is right. You probably need to descale your kettle. Basically, kettles will develop a mineral buildup from the water, which can affect the taste. The eaisiest thing to try would be to boil 1/2 cup of white vinegar to each quart of water for 10-15 minutes, then boil clean water to help get rid of the vinegar. I would boil clean water 2-3 times, for about 5 minutes each time, to be absolutly sure the vinegar taste is gone. IP: Logged |

I don't know if this has already been covered, but I am a big fan of Celestial Seasonings, particularly any kind with the word "zinger" in it, which means it has hibiscus. My #1 tea of all time: Sunburst C (sadly about to be discontinued. )#2. Red Zinger #3. Tangerine Zinger and so on and so on. The only thing that irks me about CS is that the teabags don't come individually wrapped, so I can't put them in a tea box or basket. IP: Logged |

No, but you can put the unwrapped tea bags into cute little jars. IP: Logged |

I'm trying to track down a cousin of a discontinued tea. Past-times.com used to sell 'Victorian Christmas Tea' that is essentially, liquid crack. Sadly, it has been discontinued, and now that the tin I have has begun to run out, I need my fix. It doesn't have the normal Christmas tea staple of orange in it. My ex boyfriend {who's Welsh mother introduced me to said liquid crack} has the tin with the ingredients on it. I'm going to get the ingredient listing and whats left of the tea and go to various tea merchants in Manhattan {I'm desperate!}, but thought I'd post here. Was anyone else suckered in to past times? Do you know of a tea that is like it {since they made it especially for pasttimes, I can only really hope for something close}. IP: Logged |

I'm trying out some "Throat Coat" tea right now for my sickie throat, and it's not terrible, but I'd love to find some loquat tea. And I've been drinking Morning Thunder lately also. Thanks for the tip, Crowjoy, that stuff is great! IP: Logged |

Hee hee. "Morning Thunder" makes me think of something gross...which makes me giggle because I am 5. IP: Logged |

A while ago, someone posted about some kind of tea to help you curb your appetite and I can not seem to find that post again. I am very interested in that tea. where would you find it? Who makes it? Anyone ? IP: Logged |

er, I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but I think that's a scam. People got arrested in the UK and Australia for marketing it. They sell similar stuff here in Hong Kong (which has very loose restrictions on truth in advertising, apparently. There's an hysterically funny late-night infomercial about a machine that looks like a weight bench, but you strap your ankles and head to it for an hour a day and it's supposed to make you grow 3 inches.). I would offer to send you some but it's total bollocks so I won't offer to waste your money and my time. IP: Logged |

"Why, I'm not hungry at all! I've had two gallons of green tea this morning!" Today, I'm drinking Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry Berry, because I'm all out of Oscar Wilde Blackberry from Capitol Hill Books in Denver. IP: Logged |

I would think that much of the appetite suppresion comes from the quantities of hot liquid you're drinking--I know I feel fuller when I eat soup, for instance, or drink a few cups of any type of tea. And, if the tea is flavored, that might go a ways towards satisfying any craving you might have for something sweet. But that's not to say all of those "medicinal" herb teas are bunk...I know my kava relaxy tea helps me sleep...Maybe there are herbs that make you less hungry--though I imagine if they did exist, and were safe to use, they'd be damn popular. There is a I agree with Jinxie, though, that liquids do make you feel more full. It's awfully hard to feel hungry with a lot of water or tea sloshing in your stomach
