It's a cocoa mix kit, complete with marshmellows, peppermints, etc. It's in a painted glass jar. Instructions inside the jar.

I can take another look if you want more details. Seemed right up your crafty alley.

Ok, finally got around to checking this out again.

It's cocoa in the bottom of the glass jar, with marshmallows on the top. It's in a clear jar that's painted with cow spots in
black. There's a little whisk tied to the top. There are printed instructions on a little tag. The d@mn thing is $16. PLEASE!

I found magnetic sheets on ebay for about $1 each (not including shipping). Personalized magnet "poetry" will make a great gift for family and friends who are impossible to shop for, and it'll be a great way to really make the gift personal.
Most of the poetry kits you can buy have about 300 words in them - I searched for "frequently used words" and found sites that listed nearly that many - I copied them into an excel spreadsheet, added and edited to make a decent general list, then used that as a template to add about 30-40 words that were personal to the individuals. I'll be all set once those sheets come in the mail!

Ha...try finding something with a letter "V" on it...impossible.

I actually made a T-shirt with this a few years ago. I made a nice "V" in Microsoft Word, printed it on iron on paper and voila.....

I recently had a sweater embrodiered by a friend of my mom's for $10. I feel like Laverne..but i love it!

My family has been doing something similar to this for years (before I was born, even). We keep all the Christmas cards we receive and use them as the To/From labels. We just cut the back of them off. It makes for some really pretty presents. If you add a big bow or some glittery ribbon, it's a christmas decoration that changes every year!

Does anyone know where to get empty clear glass rolling pins? I've seen all sorts of cookie mixes and bread mixes sold in them, and I think that would be something fun to do. I've tried googling for it with no luck.

I'm doing easy pour soaps, adding chocolate, oatmeal, other yummy stuff, and bath salts, brown sugar scrubs, bath bombs...basically homemade spa baskets.

I bought my base soap yesterday, and even though molds are expensive, I found a holiday one that makes bars with snowflake designs for cheaper. So I'm going to have blue, green, and white themed baskets with a snow theme.

The bath salts will be those colors, and I found these CUTE! little glass jars with cork plugs and a little glass handle that holds a wooden spoon. 77 cents each! So I'm going to paint the corks and spoons with this awesome blue paint leftover from recently painting my ladder.

I also found star cookie cutters on clearance for the treats that will go in each basket. whee!

I'm making cat poop cookies for my dad who protests cats all the time, but secretly likes some.

Those are too funny! Off the subject a little, but speaking of poop cookies, I made chocolate cookies with chocolate chunks one year for Halloween, and cut of the yellow ends of candy corn and put them in there. I made them as poo-shaped as I possibly could and served them in a bowl that I'd made to look like a toilet.
Corn poop cookies!

All of these poop cookies are grossing me out! Don't get me wrong: the creativity is impressive. But these are reminiscent of those weird flavored Harry Potter Jelly Bellys. I just can't get behind it.

My boyfriend and I were eating a bag of those Harry Potter beans one night, and he someone managed to trick me into eating 3 of the vomit flavored ones. He was giving me different ones and having me guess the flavor, so he got me pretty easily on the first one (and yes, I guessed right), but I still don't know how I was dumb enough to eat 2 more. I think he swore one wasn't vomit and told me the other was tutti-frutti.

God, I love that man.

They're actually called "Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans" *ducks things being thrown at her* yes i love harry potter and yes i'm over 18.

On that note, for christmas I'm making personalized frames for each of my friends in which i will do my best to stick in a nice picture. For my friend that just had a baby, i am making a frame with shellaced animal crackers on the edges. For my friend that works at a chinese resturant, i'm decoupaging fortune cookie fortunes on it. The list goes on and on. I cant wait till these dang college exams are over and i can get started!

.....they also have dirt, pepper, earwax, and grass among others. I was going to put them in a bowl in my livingroom and not tell my boyfriend they weren't regular Jelly Bellies....but it wasn't worth not speaking to him for a whole day, which would probably have been the end result.

My mom, who always claims to be lacking in the crafty gene, surprised me last Christmas by making really cute cocoa gifts. She used clear plastic wrappers that came in a cone shape (or she may have cut off the corner of a larger square bag) and filled it with a super yummy hot chocolate mix. She had put cinnamon and spices in the cocoa mix and poured it into the bottom of the cone, then put small white marshmallows in a round shape on top, then tied it off with a ribbon. Voila -- ice-cream cones. Yes, I did take a few extra home with me -- yum!

i'm planning on making a few of those no-sew fleece blankets for christmas presents. last night I went to Hancock's Fabrics b/c they were having a sale. I didn't expect to buy much. right now, I have such buyer's remorse...I walked out of there having spent almost $60 in less than 30 minutes (they were closing). It's a good thing they were closing cuz I probably would have wanted to spend more.

OK, this may sound stupid... but how do you make the fleece blankets? Are they just big squares/rectangles of fleece or do you cut them with pinking shears or something?

(Can you tell I'm having a brain meltdown today?)

Here's a link to the fleece blankets ; you can do pillows too. Super easy.

This year, for my nieces, I think I'm going to do this for my five little nieces. My sweety wants a specific board game that's hard to find, plus I'm thinking of making him stamped velvet pouches for all his dice and game pieces.

My stupid sister in law gave me the exact catalog/pagenumber/size for what she wants, which drives me nuts but does make things easier. I still need ideas for friends, and for my father and stepmother. Ugh..it's November already!

Doesn't everyone?

Thanks for the cloak idea, my niece would probably love that too. She's getting lots of dress up stuff from my mom this year.

Oh, and back to the hot water bottles. I'm so impressed with Mander's idea for my boss I have to share it. He's a big golfer so I"m making the cover out of astroturf and attaching a golf ball to the lid. Ha!
