The house would be fine but the land improvements added up pretty fast, and if we did it we'd be living pretty much paycheck to paycheck. This way, if we live in the condo for a few years, we can save up some money and be able to build in 3-5 years with a solid down payment and more comfortably within our budget. Plus, we're going to keep our house as a rental property and build up some more equity in that, try to get 50% out of it. All in all we're pretty happy! I'm shocked that I actually like a condo (I was very anti-condo to this point, they always felt like apartments to me) but the moment we walked in we loved it! I like that it's more of a townhouse rather than an apartment, and being an end unit means we only have one set of neighbours. Plus, I mean.... garage. That word just rolls over my tongue. Yay, I am happy for you guys. It looks really nice! Yeah I never was never a big condo fan either, but I do have a few friends that own condos and I really like them. I guess it just depends on what kind of condo it is and where it's located. Trust me, you will love your garage! We built a new one two years ago and I love it! Good idea to wait on the house until you can clear the costs better. You would hate to compromise on quality if it came down to that. Anyways, congrats again on the condo! IP: Logged |
