Ah, blame The HOGS....I guess there some ginormous Harley party/Anniversary thing going on right around the museum this weekend and daddio says it's best to avoid that area like the plague this weekend, that it's going to be insane...so I think I am going to skip out!

Sorry.

Anyone else feeling the vibes, as in vibrations from all the Harleys? Ok, I think they are cool, but all I hear is "ROAR" 24 hours a day. We live about 3 blocks away from the Menomonee Falls Harley plant. It's starting to drive me crazy. How is everyone else coping? Is anyone going to the parade or "suprise" concert?

I am NOT looking forward to trying to drive through your fair city tomorrow. It just sounds like a nightmare.

Maybe it's time I busted out the alternative route to mom & dad's again and hope I don't get lost. Schite. (They moved after I moved out...so I really don't know Wisconsin very well)

Yeah, it's pretty wild. I work downtown and the second you open the doors the roar hits you. I used to live right downtown, I'm so, so, so very glad I don't right now, or I'd be on zero sleep.

Gia, if you want to email me I might be able to help you out with alternate routes to avoid the Harley madness, depending on where you're going. There's not only the big thing on the lakefront and at State Fair park, but also various smaller ones all over town. Let me know if you want some directions! If you do email me, send it to my email gingerawg [at] hotmail [dot] com The email I used to sign up on these boards I don't really check because it's my spam address

Thanks so much, Dew...I just talked to dad and he hooked me up with an alternative route. It's a whole of that "Take County Q to County V to County LMNOP."

I just wish it spelled something. That would make it easier to remember! I will at least get to drive through Kettle Morraine and it's so pretty in there...plus it will be fun in the new car!

Sidenote: going camping in the Dells next weekend! Haven't done that in ages.

HEY - are you going to be around and free Sunday night or Monday? Mini-Digsmeet, perhaps?

Sunday is family-intensive and I am heading back to IL on Monday, probably using the avoid-Milwaukee route.

We'll do it one of these days!

Oh dear god, avoid Milwaukee at all costs. I live fairly far out into the suburbs and the traffic is driving me out of my mind. I hope your drive is as traffic-free as can be. Your drive through Kettle Moraine should be nice, my boy is from that area so we go out there fairly often.
Have a great weekend, gia! Let's try for a mini-Digsmeet some other time!

So, did everyone survive the avalanche of Harleyheads? Gawd.

I'm sorry, but that was pretty funny that everyone was thinking the surprise concert performer was going to be The Stones or The Boss and it was actually Elton John. I mean, he's good, but for a bunch of Harley lovers? That's a weird combination and it's entertaining to imagine the crowd's reaction when he came out on stage.

I can only imagine the reaction. I got a Very, Very Funny drunken voicemail from my old roommate (Dewgirl, the one you met) and it sounds like they were having a blast at the celebration.

Is everyone happy the parking & drivign situation is back to normal though?

Yes, thinga rea back to normal...Yea! I honestly didn't mind most of the harley riders, but there were some who were incredibly stupid. Like the guy who turned left infront of me (waiting to turn left in my car) from his imaginary lane between the right and left lanes...
I did think elton john was a bit of an odd choice, but then so was kid rock. I thought it kind of sucked that people had bad reactions to it, because he (elton) is a world-class singer and I am sure harley worked very hard to get him there, as well. It seemed unappreciative to me. Oh well. Hopefully we won't have to worry about this for another hundred years

It was neat to have all the Harley's here, but it is so nice to have them gone! It's quiet again! Yeah that whole Elton John thing was a big stinker. I had friends and relatives down at the concert and they were disappointed! I guess that Kid Rock actually gave the best show. Hmm, that suprised me. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, but I think the majority of us are glad to have our streets back!

Anyone planning on going to this? http://www.milwaukeefilmfest.org/

It sounds neat. I'm waiting for a little more info. There was a good article in the Milwaukee Journal on Sunday about it.

Sorry, I don't know it. I have been to the Open Hearth Restaurant in Wauwatosa, but that's it.

Welcome Elektrikbloom. What do you do in Madison? I have two sister-in-laws that live in Madison and we visit often. I love Monty's Blue Plate French Toast!

The Harp! Ha, Dewgirl and I met there last Memorial Day weekend. I love that place. Too bad it's probably getting too cold up in your neck of the woods to sit on the patio anymore.

Ooh, I'm in! I didn't make it to the last one either but I'd love to meet everybody.

Next weekend is perfect (Nov 15-16), but after that Thanksgiving kind of mucks things up. First weekend in December might be good too.

I don't really have any ideas for locations except for some sort of restaurant/bar. Would some place that's kind of between Milwaukee and Madison be good? Like Brookfield/Waukesha area? That way it's a little fairer for the possible Madison people so they don't have to drive so far.

Next weekend's kind of busy for me...does the first weekend in December work for anyone?
Also, if we're looking for a place between milwaukee and madison, there's a place right off 94 called the Delafield Brewhaus that's kind of fun.
Let me know if you guys have other ideas!!

I got food poisoning from the Brewhaus. Not saying that's a non-option or whatever (I know you can get FP just about anywhere) but it does taint my view just a little bit!

Any more thoughts on this? I can't do it in November or December 13th, but most other dates look open. There are several bars in Oconomoc that might work or Water Street Brewery in Delafield (across the highway from the Delafield brew pub).

Yeah, Water Street Brewery is good, I've been there before. Do we have people from Madison who are definitely interested, or sohuld we move it to a place closer to Milwaukee? (It's fine if there are, but seems a bit of a trek if there aren't). Also, first weekend in December (5-7) would be best for me, as the next weekend is finals weekend.
Keep me posted!!

I've been to the Water Street Brewery downtown and liked it so the one in Delafield would get my vote.

I'm in the Brookfield/Waukesha area, so either downtown Milwaukee or somewhere between Milwaukee and Madison are good for me.

Pretty much all my weekends are currently free aside from the obvious ones of Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends. My vote is for the weekend of Dec 12-14 as my boy and I will probably be around here for the Bela Fleck show at the Rave. Otherwise we usually alternate weekends beteween here and his place in Madison. It's no big deal though since we don't have much in our calendar right now.

So, I guess because everyone has been so quiet, that we don't to do a mini Digs meet? I would really prefer to do it in January, but that's just me. I am in a wedding this weekend and I have Christmas parties for the next three weekends after that. Plus I need to do my Christmas shopping, wrapping and baking. Anyone else in the same boat?

If January is better, that's fine with me (being realistic with myself, January would probably be better for me, too.) I have been quite because I am in the middle of exams yet again. As far as I know, after new year's my schedule is wide open. Lemme know what you think!

January is cool, I'm free every weekend but the first two (3-4 & 10-11). January 24th would be a totally perfect date.
