Oh so jealous, jazzberry. I'm in New Brunswick and we're having a blizzard. High winds, white-out conditions, 35+ centimetres of snow. Can I come live with you?

Yeah really, the weather's been so weird lately, as usual. Wednesday's sun! rain! sun! rain! act was great.

I was feeling mighty chilly in the brrr! bracing 8 degree heat until we got a letter from j's aunt in newfoundland. She mentioned having to sew an extra button on her coat to keep the cold out.

Man did Nova Scotia ever get dumped on! My sister is still digging her way out of her house. Something like a meter of snow fell in 24 hours? CRAZY.

my epic interview session went pretty well. It was actually an "Evaluation Day" and we did a series of activities and fun stuff. I was expecting there to be at least 100 people, but including me there was 8. There was supposed to be 14, but 6 people didn't show up, which is ridiculous, since 4500 people apply every year, 450 people get accepted, and there aren't many spots for the evaluation days. Craziness.

I'll let you all know if I get recommended. I should know in the next week or so, but I won't find out if I'm actually being placed on a team until April. Ack!

I live in New Brunswick, a few hours from Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had a storm here and plenty of snow, but not a "State of Emergency" like NS. Crazy.

From "Talking to Americans" on This Hour Has 22 Minutes:

"Congratulations Canada on getting FM radio."

"Congratulations Canada on getting running water in all five states."

bwhahahahahaha! I love that segment. I miss Rick Mercer on that show.

My favourite is: congratulations canada on your first 100 miles of paved highway!

I'd be up for a meet. My last exam is april 26 and then I have scads and scads of free time. whee!

I also love: "Congratulations, Canada, on reaching a population of one million!"

End of April/early May works for me. Well, actually, anytime after March 22 works for me...hehe.

As an American living in Canada (and have lived NEXT to Canada over half my life) I love this show.
My favorite two bits were "Should Canadians adopt the 24 hour day?" and "Should Canadians end the practice of putting their old people on ice flows & letting them float off?"
HA!

ooo ooo, apparently my little hometown of Qualicum Beach has more seniors per capita, or the oldest population, or something like that, than any other town in Canada... therefore, i definitely think we should continue this practice! *snicker*

*waves frantically* Hi Natalie!! I'm so glad that you're liking your new job!

Beach is going to be moving to Vancouver fairly soon, soonest being the end of May. It would be great to have her there, especially since she's never lived here before. Did you guys want to still have a digsmeet in April, and then have another one in the Summer, or would you rather just wait and have one when Beach gets here? I'm cool with either.

Also, did you guys want to do dinner or lunch this time? Somewhere where we're allowed to take pictures. Stupid St@rbucks.

(is "soonest" a word? Probably not.)

Did Starbucks freak out when you tried to take pictures? What's with that?

If you guys do your April digsmeet, I'm cool with hooking up with you in the summer. I'll be in Port Coquitlam when I first get into town anyway... then hopefully I'll move into the city.

oohh! I reeeeally wish I could. I love Qualicum. Unfortunately, it's a two hour ferry and a half hour drive away.

I actually "accidentally" went to the Fire and Ice Festival a couple of years ago. It's pretty cool. What are you going to be there for? Ooh, are you making chili or an ice sculpture???

yes, but only very briefly. I wish I could fit in a meet but I just dont think it's possible.
We leave Edmonton on Friday morning, drive all day, stop in Vancouver to pick up my friend and then to the ferry and over to the island. We hope to be on the island by Friday night. Possible? hopefully. Tiring...absolutley.
But if our plan doesn't work and we end up staying in Vancouver over night I will post and see whose around for a quick meet and greet.

Saturday, May 15th (tomorrow!)
Noon
Big Downtown Library, near TD bank machines (in concourse, across from actual library entrance)
Bring a picnic lunch!

Yay!

in other news, Erik popped the big question last night! it was totally awesome! i've been emailing far-away friends pix of my ring

we'll be heading up to Whistler in a couple of days - we'll be there for Canada day which is super cool! what are you all gonna be up to for Canada day... have you all decided who you're voting for??

oh my gosh! Congrats Jaimes! That's sooo awesome! How'd it happen? Were you expecting it?? Wow...again, congrats!

I've decided who I'm voting for. This election is going to be very interesting. I care way more about this election than any in the past--I don't know if it's because I'm older, or if it's because I feel more passionately about certain issues in this country, but yeah...I'll definitely be following the coverage tomorrow.

Canada Day? Oh yeah...shoot. I forgot about that. It'll be kinda weird to have to go back to work just for Friday. I never end up doing anything big on Canada Day--things always fall through! I think I'll end up doing some cleaning, or catching up on some reading. woooo. hehehe.

oh wow, congratulations!!!

I will be in vermont for canada day, very ironically. But then we'll be in Ottawa for the fourth of july, so I think that will balance out the irony meter, or overload it, or something.

I am little miss ndp, no shocker there.. I am on tenterhooks about tomorrow! There are so many local ridings that are close contests for the ndp, and of course nationally it's such a total crapshoot about who'll form a minority government with who. conservative/bloc? liberal/ndp? hoy, it could go anywhere.

Whew, after four long years in Wisconsin, I've returned to Canada (yay) and am getting settled in Vancouver. Is there no Vancouver thread here? I'm an East Coast girl so this is all new to me but I'm liking it. Being two blocks from the beach does't hurt. =)
