Hugs to the brides, and hats off to Canada for being civilised enough to recognise love is love.

Omg I can't believe how I STILL feel like I haven't recovered. Today's weather has helped... I am officially free of wool today. Phew!

We LOVED our visit to Toronto. We had such a blast. Mander thoroughly enjoyed her time alone exploring... she went to a park by the water, saw black squirrels and wandered among the rhodadendrums in lightly drifting snow. She drove all through TO remembering being a city girl. We had nothing but fabulous (though wowee expensive!) meals and got to try Tim Hortons (like PULL OVER NOW, I SEE ONE) on the way to the airport and I spent exactly $4.95 of our $5 gift, allowing for a donation to tsunami relief. And oh yeah the girls loved the timbits. That's all that made it home.

The Shoe Museum is the bomb and I'm psyched about the pictures I took. We're so envious of all your cultcha. Many more museums to look forward to checking out. And Kena (plus salty* late night TV about Montreal back at the hotel) have us all stoked about a Quebec visit sometime too. Even more than the ability to get married, y'all and the city (and even the guy who "traded" gloves with Mander) confirmed every nice thing we've every heard about Canadians.
*Totally part of our lexicon now.

And the getting married. So. great. It had the be the best non-traditional wedding in my personal collection, if not ever. The doctor's office has already provided me opportunity to say "yes" to the marital status check box, where I used to write n/a. And I now refer to Mander as, without any consideration for hetero heebie jeebies (theirs, not mine,) my Wife. Now we want to get married every place we, with MA next on the list and dreaming of the annual group wedding in the Netherlands during pride. I hope to someday have wracked up hundreds of weddings. (Current count of possible locales: 4.)

And we could only be so lucky as to have as fine a group of people as the Digsters who came to this wedding. It blows my mind to think of what a huge part of my life Digs has become and how lucky I am to have known and experienced everything I have since coming here. I mean, our WEDDING!

Ok then! There it is, the story of our trip! Nothing ruled TO and Canada out as a potential destination, though the weather tried really hard. There is further reseach to do on the adoption thang and more details of such a move to look into. So no decision at this point and that's a good thing. Sorry to keep you all in suspense! But in the meantime if anyone hears of, oh, a 2 or 3 br place like for a year or so, you know, FREE or something HA let us know!

Thanks again to everyone for coming, for your happy wishes and for the enthusiasm!

I have to tell you that I called my mom the day after y'all got hitched and asked her if she remembered me talking about my friend Crowjoy and her wife and she said "she's not her wife, they're partners" to which I responded BULLSHIT, they're married now! It drives me crazy when my otherwise incredibly liberal mom gets hungup on stuff like that. But just so you know, you provided me some joy for Saturday making my mom eat crow (HA CROWJOY...go ahead...fire me!) You'll have to let us know your next marriage bound destination...I swear if its warm I'm dropping everything, jumping outta my jammies and onto the plane!!!

You guys are beautiful! Congrats, again, and thanks for making me cry! Shame on Steven Harper and his stupid cronies for trying to deny such a beautiful expression of love...

(for those not Canadian, he's the leader of the Conservative Party of Can., who is trying to overturn the decision to allow gay marriage -- oh, and I may add, he's obviously an a**hole)

Aww, i missed that second round of photos from the wedding -- so sweet!

And in other news...

Looks like Ginsu and I might be moving to Toronto after our Edinburgh stint! After a crazy whirlwind of an interview trip last week (Edinburgh to Toronto and back again in like four days), he got a phone call with the good news that they're offering him a faculty position at the U of Toronto. It's actually unofficially official at this point, as he still needs to make a budget which needs approval, and also, we're hoping to make a trip out there together so I can actually check out the city before he says yes. But, he's really excited about both the city and the department, and from everything I've heard, I think it sounds like it'll be a great place to live.

So the move would still be like a year and a half away, but it looks like Toronto's where we're headed. Now I just have to go back through this thread to read up on all the advice y'all gave CJ when she was researching moving there...

edited because i can't type

Heee -- yes, avoiding a blizzard would be nice. We haven't decided when we'll make the trip out yet, but I imagine it'll be relatively soon. I'll keep you guys posted.

And Chele, he'd be in Zoology. In addition to just the general excitement over the fact that Ginsu actually has a job offer (!), we're pretty psyched about Toronto. And to think, I'll (probably) soon be living somewhere where there are other Digsters -- yay again!

What fabulous news! Congrats to ginsu for the job offer. I was very pleased by my short experience at the U of T (I went to a conference last summer)

I can't wait to see if I will be able to attend the next Digsmeet... or maybe you will decide to drop by Montreal for a quick visit? (ok, it's probably not practical, but one is allowed to hope, no?)

Oh my Gosh, Yeefan, that's so cool!!! It would be so nice to have the digs-creator around!

I studied at U of T for 2 years, and now I'm at Ryerson University in T.O, which is about 15 min. walk from U of T. The downtown campus is so beautiful, nice old buildings, really nice.

I live 30 min. drive away from T.O, so let me know if you need any advice on the suburbs!! Good luck, and yes, even though it's sometimes reallyl cold, we have hot summers, a beautiful fall and spring, and our winters are not bad all the time... it's been pretty mild this week.

Wow, I can't believe y'all want to come to Canada... let's take bets on who's next!
