Oh yes! They also have the cutest artsy fartsy looking appliances for a reasonable price...I love their bed-in-a-bags, adorable plates and placemats and kitchenware...Target is the one true place you could really buy EVERYTHING you needed.

Yeah... there's just that there's this mix of stuff you need plus superfluous stuff that you don't need but when you see it you want it and you think you need it. It's a racket I tell you!

Right now I "need" a new kitchen trash can, those red vinyl 50s style chairs, more toilet paper, underwear, shoes, film (all varieties of course), extra photo album pages, wooden TV trays, stuff for the patio & backyard, a couple of mini muffin pans...

Oh God, I'm even wearing a Target "uniform" today. Khaki pants with a red shirt.

what's really bad is when i'm walking into Target or Old Navy and I realize that my entire outfit came from the store . . . another vintage shopping run is needed

the garden stuff is out now . . . must exercise self-control . . .

Don't even get me started on my unhealthy addiction to Target (pronounced, of course, as "Tar-jay).

I think I just gave up fighting when they came out with their latest array of home decor... the light-up end table, bamboo screens... must I go on? For someone who lives about 9 hours from the nearest IKEA, Target is my outlet for style on a budget.

And, yes, I'm thinking of buying the "Lucy" chair for my desk (that red sparkly one mentioned in the previous post).

Sometimes I get sad when I realize that an outing to Target isn't just a to-do, but it's an event. Like, I make dates with people to go to Target, and that will be our plan for the evening. I could wander the aisles for hours.

That's what I'm screaming!! It isn't as if ATL is some wretched little arm pit town. You'd think we'd get an IKEA, but nooooo! We're stuck salivating at the catalogs!

Edited to contribute to the topic - I love Target, too! Especially Super T!

emcarb - Super T? You mean a Target version of the Wal-Mart Supercenter concept? That would be enough to send me into convulsions. Oh, how I need to escape the confines of Kentucky! :-)

No joking! There's a whole thread about SuperTarget around here somewhere.

*emcarb scurries away to retrieve old thread*

Okay, I found it, but I don't know how to do one of those el-cool-o link things. I bumped it up for you in "covet".

*drooling* I adore Target. Everytime I go there I spend WAY more money than I had intended. I want to buy so much stuff from the housewares dept, it's not even funny.

Oh man, I live in one of the aforementioned armpit towns without a Target and I hate it!!! Target...I sing its praises.

My sister-in-law I went to to "the big city" last weekend and the first place we headed was Target. I love their housewares!!! Good cheap towels, cute stuff, it's all great.

I haven't been in a Target for about three months now. It's a saving money tactic. Otherwise i would be deeply in debt and that would not be a good thing.

Much thanks for the *bump*, emcarb! I had to stop reading after the first three or so messages, 'cause it was making the Targets near me look absolutly pitiful! Being able to do grocery shopping at a Target would be simply amazing. We have two Targets here in Lexington... perhaps they could merge them into a Super!

Better not get my hopes up... but wow, what a dream!

I live in Canada, and we do not have Target's here. I've heard of it, it always sounded pretty good but thought to myself that it can't be all that different than WalMart. I was WRONG! After seeing this thread I thought I'd go and check out the website....BIG mistake. Here is my preliminary list of things I want but cannot have because *sniff* they have yet to come to Canada.
- that modular furniture just looks so cool I must have it somehow!
- any of the folding screens (especially the bamboo ones)
- the cube bookcase
I'm completly taken with the follow items, but I'm not completely sure I would want them...but I may if I see them in person.
- folding bookcase...I'm not sure what that means, but it looks pretty cool
- the 3 tier revolving storage unit...what is there to say...unique
AND the lighted end table...interesting...

I've already e-mailed Target to find out if they're planning on building up here any time soon and I'm definetly going to look into if they will deliver!

yes, you will be very jealous. It is a HUGE Target. I guess its characterized as a Greatland when it has a certain amount of square footage. All this Target talk has me all flustered...I may have to browse the aisles today....someone stop me!!!!

starrylkj - I have no clue why the chairs never go on sale! The Target I usually go to has had the same two chairs on their shelves for at least 4 months (there's dust on them!) but they just won't go on clearance. This really surprises me, because Target usually puts stuff on clearance pretty quickly to get new stuff in. I'm waiting... :-)

Well I too am a target addict. I LOVE the Michael Graves sections. I really need to eventually get all of his kitchen stuff so far I only have a few things. I am also very happy that they took on Mossimo. The new design is so great, and very cheap. Ok off I go.....it's a beautiful day for shopping.

DharmaBlue - They've got the screens at the regular stores I shop at, but they just got 'em in stock about 2 weeks ago. I stopped by one day and there was all this new stuff to covet!

What I'm waiting for my Targets to get in stock are the modular storage units! I've been looking for a worthy replacement for what I'm using for storage in my bedroom.

Oh sweet Targetness!!!! I am not sure why there is only one Target in the city, someone is missing a huge market! It was crazy crowded today, but that didn't take the beauty out of the Target trip. They have new matchbox cars in where you get a minature license plate with the car and then there's a license plate collecting book. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with collecting matchbox cars at 27 years old....is there? Oh and I got the Giganto thing of TP, now I just have to figure out where to put 30 or so rolls of TP. I also love Target.com!!!!!!

I love Target too! We have two here (ann Arbor, MI) by my house...I usually go to the one a few streets away and then on weekends will visit the other one because they seem to have different things in both stores...

I LOVE the modular shelving and screens...if only I had a house...more space to put stuff! My apartment has run out of room! Although I am buying the stackable wire cubes today (they're on sale this week!) so that I can put them in my spare bedroom - cool extra shelving...

Sigh....

They actually had to lower my credit limit on my Target Guest Card so that I would stop shopping there. I've finally gotten it down a couple of hundred dollars below the limit, but thank god the closest one is 45 minutes away. Sigh...

I need a good fix.

chitowngirl posted: I guess its characterized as a Greatland when it has a certain amount of square footage

I had wondered this as well when the one by us opened a few years back and your explanation totally made sense. So I did my google search and came across this article that says among other things: "Target Greatland stores feature: An average of 142,000 square feet, More than 1.5 miles of shelf space ..."

Interestingly enough, the target.com site seems to just gloss over the Greatlands. The SuperTargets OTOH get their own special section.

i , too love the light up end table... last night i was showing it to my roommates and one of them remembered seeing it somewhere else. the new chiasso catalog was sitting on the coffeetable.

she grabbed it and started leafing through it and sure eough, chiasso is selling the same thing (probably different manufacturer because the light part is bright white, not sort of an off white.) for $115.

ha! at target i can get it for $39.99.

i love you, target. oh so very much.

anyone a fan of shoes by Mia? I was in the shoe dept. of Target looking through the Xhilaration line, and I noticed a pair of shoes . . . one with a "Mia" label, and one with an "Xhilaration" label. It was ONE matching pair of shoes! Cool, huh?

target version

chiasso version

PS: how the hell do I turn those messy url's into neat little word-links? I suck at this.

I tried to fix the chiasso link but can't seem to get it to work ... you can find the table on their site by going to decor/furniture/light side table

Oh my lordy, just got back from the big ol' Target. Wanted to buy everything. Luckily, I was on my lunch hour and did not have sufficient time to check out. Has anyone seen the adorable stuff they are carrying now? It's like Shabby Chic stuff-- trays with fruit painted on them, white chicken wire baskets, big cream colored urns, little painted metal bowls with lemons and limes. ADORABLE!!! I wanted to buy everything...

I ask for Target cards for all my important present gettting dates (b-day, x-mas, anniv., whatever!) and spend like a maniac! I especially love the Restore/Restyle stuff. I'm a total junkie. I have outfitted my house with funky knobs and shelves and hooks and rugs, and oh my goodness I love that place. I even bought a basketball last time I was there. Talk about an impulse buy, I don't even PLAY basketball.....
