We registered on Sunday for our wedding at Target. It was so much fun. It felt like we were buying everything in the store without having to pay for it. Wee!!!

I spent an hour at Target oooohing and awwwing. I wish I had more money. They have this folding screen/room divider thingy that you can put pictures in (does that make sense?) on clearance. It's only $35 and was originally like $60 or $70. I want it!!!

but, I did buy a pair of black dress pants on clearance for only $6.24!!! I'm way excited about those. I *heart* Target!

I applied for a second job, like 6 hours a week, at the SuperTarget near where I work full-time. Can you say "10% discount"??? Especially with the whole house-buying thing, the extra cash will be mucho appreciated.

But since I spend oodles of money at Target anyway, at least now it'll be 10% off. This is justification, right?

Do they hire for so few hours a week? I don't really have any interest in a second job, but 6 hours a week would be an extra $150 in my pocket each month, plus a 10% discount... that's worth considering! Not to mention it's only 2 blocks from my house

I am hopelessly addicted to Target jewlery. I'm not allowed to even look in the direction of the jewelry section anymore. But, I am currently wearing an awesome necklace, braclet, earring set I got there; love it!

I'm gonna miss Target when I move back to Canada. =(

Supertarget has a grocery store attached to it, so you can go to the store and feed the target monster at the same time. It's frighteningly easy to spend hundreds of dollars at a time.

Help, veteran Target shoppers!

The entertainment center that Dave and I have our eye on is currently on sale for about 30 percent off. We're debating on buying it now, because it's on sale, or waiting and hoping it happens again... is there any pattern to sales? Does this mean it's being discontinued? Should we just spend the 90 bucks now? Ack!

You know what? I've noticed a pattern at my own Target, but I could be wrong. Usually, stuff goes on clearance for 15%-20% off in it's own aisle. Then, it goes on clearance with other items in the dept. for 30%-50% off, usually on an endcap. Finally, it's on clearance for 75% off in the big "random clearance" aisle or endcap-- you know, where you find like, stickers with bathtowels?

However, the 75% clearance section RARELY has any big ticket items... usually they're swooped up before they get there. So-- the point of my post is to say go buy it! NOW! Before someone else gets it!!!! Trust me, even if you see it on sale later for cheaper, you'll be grateful that you already got it before there was just the one dinged up one left. and wouldn't you hate to have to post about said entertainment center in the *things I should have bought* thread?? Hmmmm?

yes. buy it now. and if it goes on sale more within the next 2 weeks, you can go back to the store and they'll refund you the difference.

Here's target's supposed markdown schedule:

http://boards.mycoupons.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=296301

I would ask your target if they'll refund the price difference if it gets marked down further before you make that your game plan. If they consider the item clearance, they most likely will not "price adjust". It's not part of their policy (though stores have been known to break that rule)

Well, it ended up being a moot point, as it went off sale that night. SUnday it was regular price. I don't think it was clearance, though, just random sale. AND, if I see something on sale (not clearance) and they are out, I can get a raincheck for the sale price. Yay!

I read something about Target once that said if a clearance price ends in a 4, then that's the final markdown. And if it ends in anything else, it will be marked down again. But I can't remember what the number was. Anyone else heard that?

I also heard the same thing for walmart, but again, can't remember the number.

.

That seems right. I worked at Target myself for awhile, but it was a couple of years ago now, and I have a bad memory. I think the price before the last markdown ended in "7."

Also, at the Target I worked at, we weren't really supposed to do it, but we used to keep track of the stuff about to go on final clearance and horde it for ourselves. Ditto for the defective marked down merchandise. So, it was pretty cool place to work, considering. I spent too much of my own salary there...

I just had the best experience at the Super Target in Birmingham, AL. I went in to get a TON of stuff for my new apartment. I came to the register with the buggy as full as it could possibly be, and saw that the couple behind me only had a hand-held shopping basket full of stuff, so I offered to let them go in front of me. They declined, and I felt guilty for having sooo much stuff and holding up the line. As I started loading my stuff onto the conveyor belt, the cashier went to get an empty buggy to make loading it easier. Then the guy from the couple behind me walked to the end of the lane and started bagging and loading everything into my buggy. After I paid (with a new Target Visa for 10% off), the cashier grabbed my buggy to push it out to the car. It had started pouring rain by that time, so he double-bagged my things, and went to get an umbrella. He then walked me to my car with the umbrella and had me drive up to the front of the store, where he waited with my buggy. Then he helped me load down my car with all my stuff, all under the umbrella so I wouldn't get wet and sick.

I've never been in a Target with nice employees before, and was also surprised at the helpfulness of other customers. Nice people make me happy.

Know any good stuff yet? I would be THRILLED to know the secrets behind the Target markdown.

I clearly need something else to do with my time.

Not really... I know that there is sale stuff that ends in 8, 4 and 7, but I don't know which is the final markdown. Just from what comes through and what seems to be the really "strange stuff", like there is only one of them in the ENTIRE store, ends in "8" so that is my best guess. Must remember to ask tonight!

I went to Target the other day with the sole purpose of returning highlighters and tape for a grand total credit of, like, $4. And I told myself that's ALL I would do. (Yeah right, as if that's going to happen.) I walked out with a $52 receipt. Darn those clearance sections! I can't help but walk from clearance to clearance, filling my cart. However, since I'm usually a 'glass is half full' type of person, instead of looking at how much I spent, I focus on how much I saved by shopping on clearance!

Oh, good to know! There's this Easter wreath I've been wanting. I'll have to see if it's still there. I forsee another "I'm just going for a wreath" shopping adventure.

Edited to add: Thanks to Ellie's Easter markdown schedule, I was able to find the wreath that I wanted and it was only $5!! Aaaaannnnndddd, I DID walk out with just the wreath! I'm so proud of myself.

Has anyone seen the new Shabby Chic line at Target? There is some really nice stuff in it. I am really lusting after the sheets and a bedspread. I didn't so care much for some of the knicknacks though. They are made to look old timey, and while I like the style, I just thought they looked too fake. Plus, you can find genuine stuff like that at the flea market for much, much cheaper. But, oh that bedding....

Yeah, so we went to Restoration Hardware to buy a retro oscillating fan (because A had seen them there, plus we just wanted to look around and get ideas for other projects), then we went to Target to buy a laundry hamper. We found and almost identical fan for, ***cough, cough,*** $50 less (and actually, the one we bought at RH was smaller, had we gotten the same size as the Target one it would have been another $20). Needless to say we're returning the first one to RH.

I love that collection! I've read on their reviews that they chip easily, though. I picked up two of their folding bookcases to flank my TV, pics are in the "show off your digs" thread. I really like the color, it does NOT look like a Target bookshelf!
