Cool! I'm gonna get a package of goodies from gecko, and it'll have gia's card! Whoo hoo! I'll still go look at all the others, too, of course. And probably buy some, case I'm sure I'll like them. ![]() IP: Logged |

Just don't get that big orange shirt...I will definitely scream "I GOT THIS AT TARGET" with his name blaring across it! Yes, the stuff is pretty cute. I just bought the Mossimo black pinstripe pants for fall...yey for machine washing. IP: Logged |

Don't tell me the Isaac stuff is out already!! I might just have to make another trip to Target. I can't wait until the rumored Marc Jacobs Target line comes out--I love his bags but $800 is definitely not in my price range. IP: Logged |

There's going to be a Target Marc Jacobs line?!? Wow. That place never ceases to amaze me. I don't even have to buy anything to enjoy it. Lots of times I just wonder around with a chai in hand and look at everything for an hour or so. IP: Logged |

Went to Target last night, and spent way way way too much on stuff for the still-new-ish pad. Lots from the "Swell" line, since I own both of the books. Shower curtain rings that read "good clean fun" are just too much! And the neon martini lamp completes my tack-chic bartender persona. IP: Logged |

One of my friends in NYC, who is a shoe designer for Ann Taylor, told me that Women's Wear Daily ran a story about how Marc Jacobs was releasing a new line for people who want designer prices but have a Target budget. We got immediately hopeful! I just got the new issue of Marie Claire and there is a whole story where Isaac Mizrahi dresses random Target shoppers from his new line of stuff. There are the CUTEST pointy-toed slingbacks--and they're only 26.99! I can tell this is gonna put a severe dent in my newfound saving habits...hehehe IP: Logged |

I think it's so smart of Target to approach these big time designers to create exclusive lines. With the "scare" in the economy right now, I feel like a lot of people are hesitant to go out and spend fun money on a very expensive outfit, but they can justify buying a designer outfit it comes from Target. Plus, let's face it, for designer names, the prices are unbeatable! I love it! I love that Target is sort of catering to my a younger, more savvy generation of buyers, as well. Isaac Mizrahi, Marc Jacobs, Liz Lange, Cynthia Rowley, Todd Oldham, giamaria... All designers who are are responsible for the styles that our demographic demands, but cool enough to "get" that we aren't made of money. Good for Target for understanding us! Does anyone happen to know how Target stocks are doing, or generally, how Target is doing financially? I always read that you should invest in companies/brands that you know. Is Target a safe investment? *emcarb scurries away to do some investigation...* [This message has been edited by emcarb (edited 08-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

We don't have Target here in Canada, I've never been in one...and it's killing me! I need to find out which one is closest to the border of Ontario and go on a road trip! IP: Logged |

quote: You're in Toronto, right? Go to Buffalo, there's one right by Walden Galleria, not too far, about an hour and a half. My trip was worth it. I got a Mossimo dress for $20USD and I've gotten rave reviews every time I've worn it. I think another trip is in order soon. Can't wait to check out the Isaac Mizrahi stuff. IP: Logged |

quote: Hey Chele, welcome to the "Bring Target to Canada PLEASE!" club... hehe I make 1/2 yearly trips south of the border for my Target fix. I don't even buy all that much (bras, sandals, shirts, accessories...I wish I could buy furniture), but it helps. They should offer Pace Lane cards at the border for Target addicts. IP: Logged |

My sister got me a 50 dollar Target giftcard, and then took me shopping at the Target nearest Grandma's house while we were all in Texas (sis is currently living in Idaho). And oh my . . . first, it was almost a BETTER gift that she came with me, as Iam NOTORIOUSLY bad at clothes shopping, and she made me buy actual CLOTHES, not just bras or whatever, and they had to be WORK clothes, since I'm studen teaching in 19 days -- I got a three piece black linen suit (black pants and coat, white sleeveless Vneck blouse) for less than thirty bucks on the clearance rack, and then a pallet of other things to go with it. I ended up spending an additional 35 dollars, but got about 5 outfits total from all that. Now, I just need to wait patiently as the Target is being built HERE. I am always annoyed at stores opening and being mobbed, but Target? I may just be one of the masses. IP: Logged |

Target is the bane of my new student budget existence... To answer the question about their stock (a*hem), according C-Span, CNN, and NYT, Target is now an excellant stock to invest in. They are doing better than expected, which may be due to the Back to School costs as well as roping in Todd Oldham to do another "dorm" style line for them after saying he wouldn't. While Target main competitor is Wal*Mart (or slave*mart) and investing in Wal*Mart will give you greater return, their stock is much more expensive and you would be investing in a company notorious for sexual/age/race discrimination, low pay, sometimes NO pay and low quality products where as Target has plenty of room for growth but does have vulnerability since its image is linked to designers (MSE and KMART, anyone?), but they are smart and VARIOUS designers that are around usually for a season or two. I just bought the 300 count sheets at Target for my guest room. They are wonderfully soft and soooooooo much cheaper than the ones I got for my wedding that are 310. I suggest everyone get some. They are only 19.99 for each. I love them. IP: Logged |

I just got a chair-futon from Ikea, so I needed some twin sheets for it. I have been wanting the Swell sheets for so long, but just can't justify new sheets for my bed. So, I get the cheaper, twin-sized ones for the futon. I love them! Now the problem is that I want a set for myself even more. IP: Logged |

Hey there, I got the new cute shoes from the new Isaac Mizrahi line today, the pointy toe black ones - they're pretty comfy and cute. Some of the other stuff is nice too, the solid colored crewneck sweaters are so soft. And the suede skirt is great, if more than I could afford . Anywhoo, I got the shoes and sweater, and i love them. YAY for Target. (PS gia, your cards were sold out at my Target too, I even asked, and the employee said they couldn't keep them in stock!)

quote: Well, they are not wide enough to fit the VCR onto the shelves inside, and even if they were, you would have to cut a hole for the cord yourself. (Maybe this is because I cheated and bought the little 14x14 boxes instead of the long one) And as I said, there is only one little connector between the boxes, so they spin. That means if anything is just a bit off balance, the stupid thing flips around unless you have feet under each and every box (which is both expensive and ugy). Plus, the feet are not metal, they are cheap plastic. I only had a teeny tiny 13" TV; I would not trust anything too much bigger than that. Don't get me wrong, I like them, they are pretty and cute, but they are only good for small, decorative furniture like nightstands and end tables. IP: Logged |
