I'm pretty sure there's one in Bellingham, though honestly I can never tell the difference between target and what Zellers carries. Give me Ikea any day...

Yeah but then I got smart. I realized that my bang for my buck in the US is more like a peep. I may have to check it out anyhoo though, just in case I suddenly become independently wealthy or something...

Oh, I think there is a big difference. It's mostly a style thing. I think IKEA is more stylish and cheaper, but not all of us have an IKEA nearby. I went to Zellers when I was in Canada. It reminded me more of Wal-Mart or Shop-Co (A Wisconsin discount store).
It certainly couldn't hold a candle to my beloved Target.

Okay, I'm trying hard to control my squeals (though I did just do a little happy-shimmy in front of my boss and co-workers), but!
I have it on good authority that ISAAC MIZRAHI has signed a deal with Boutique Tarjhay! No sh*t!

I wouldn't exactly call Shopko a discount store - it's generally more expensive than Target is...(they are also found in Michigan and Illinois)

I need to make a run to Target but every time I set foot in that place I spend twice as much as I planned on! EVIL!!!

I wanna goooo!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I didn't see this before, but yeah there is one in Bellingham (even though your dollar won't go as far there). I just wanted to ask where in Canada are you? I'm down in Bellingham, probably not to far away! But I digress.

Oooh, I forgot though, the B'ham Target (it's in Bellis Fair Mall) is being renovated, so everything's askew and it's nearly impossible to find what you need. I think I'm going to wait a lil bit before going back, it's too crazy there now. Wal-mart or K-mart will have to suffice for now. *sigh*

Sorry didn't catch this earlier. I'm in Abbotsford, drive to border is only like 10 minutes away.

I went to Target today and had to drag myself out of the store! The clothing section in particular had a ton of cute stuff. I am always looking for nice shirts to wear out or to work but most stores have slutty stuff. Target has some cute skirts, nice Mossimo tops (short sleeves and they are made out of Lycra), and some awesome button up shirts.

Today I bought a white Mossimo tanktop and white button up shirt. I'm taking my skirt in next week to find one of the cute shirts to match it (right now all I have to match this particular skirt is a sleeveless top)...

In addition, their house stuff is super cute too...I wish I had a nice backyard and deck so that I could have summer parties. They had some fun lights that you could string up on the deck and some dinnerware that is perfect for outside.

*sigh* I was just at target last week, and unfortunately, all the clothes I thought were cute were just too small. I want to know why their "Women's" section is so small and dowdy, while all the rest of their clothes are super cute!

Ditto on the cute housewares though. The' and I registered there a few weeks ago, and I am just LOVING all the red cast iron kitchen accessories!! I'm just kinda bummed that all that might be gone when people start buying gifts closer to October. Oh well... I might just have to buy some of the stuff for myself.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Their entire women's section fits on 2 or 3 racks and is ugly.

My mom bought us some towels from Target (because I didn't have enough for 6 people to shower daily... go figure). Theywere yeloow and ribbed, really cute. So we got them home and my sister was using one of the washcloths. As soon as she got it wet these big blue spots started appearing, like disapperaing ink or something (except backwards). It didn't come out when we washed them either. They took them back and gave us credit, but that was bizarre... and disappointing.

I've always felt that way too! I don't know why designers don't think plus sized people deserve inexpensive trendy clothes.

I'm starting to freak myself out whenever I go to Target. I feel like I'm reading all its messages instead of just browsing like a sane person. I'm like, "Target WHO? Aim at WHAT?"

It's the first store that I've ever referred to as a revolution. Makes me think about how shoppers in the earliest department stores must have felt, all seduced and full of wonder.

Does this make sense to anyone, or am I making a complete ass of myself?

Nope, makes perfect sense Pompier. I get a little overwhelmed there at times myself, and never seem to leave the store without spending $100. I've occasionally been able to find cute women's size stuff there (especially since they added the Mossimo stuff) but I still get pretty frustrated with them at times. I already feel bad at times because I'm fat, must I feel dowdy too? Grrrr.

I went to Target when I was back in Australia over Christmas, and it was absolutely brilliant. I am not sure whether this is because Target has changed its product lines, or if I have gotten older (it's about 8 years since I last set foot in one) and daggier.

If you'd told me when I was at high school that the Red Spot Boutique, as it was sneeringly known in my playground, would one day be the best place for t-shirts and those ubiquitous long shorts, I would have backed away slowly from you like the mad person you clearly were.

I had to revive this thread because I just got back from Target and I'm so thrilled!

About a month ago I started scanning around for a new bathing suit. I had in mind a cute 2 piece, maybe a bikini type top and board shorts. I looked in department stores and mall shops and it was all very meh (uninteresting). Nothing caught my eye or fit right and it was all ridiculously expensive.

So I went to Target.
hehehehe

I found a perfect top half for $9.98. They didn't have any board shorts that caught my fancy though so I got the regular bottoms (also only $9.98) that matched my top as a backup in case I never found good board shorts. Today I went back to Target to get some 50% off Easter chocolate and I wandered through their swimwear and !YES! They suddenly had board shorts there that were part of the mix/match set for the top I had!!!! $9.98.

So for $30 I have 3 piece (lol) swimwear wardrobe.... and that's less than what most department stores wanted for half a suit!

YAY Target!

I'm so excited! At home, I would seriously die without my Target. I buy so much stuff there! But there isn't one anywhere near my college. (I've been secretly wishing that one of the K-Marts would go under and a Target would go into their building.) Well, the other day I went to the mall, and the minute I walked in, I saw a huge "Coming March 2004: TARGET!" sign. *squeels of delight* I can't wait!

Hey Jazzberry-

Just to make you a little more jealous

I have four, soon to be five, Targets within 15 minutes of my house. The closest one is five minutes away. The one they are building will be about seven minutes away. But we have no Super Targets, so I am jealous of anyone who lives near one of those.

chaosdaisy-- I almost bought that exact table I loved it so much, but I decided I needed a larger one more in proportion with my couch. Just a recommendation, get some of the old english wood polish in the dark color it will really come in handy covering up any accidental small scratches!

My friend has the entire set that matches that coffee table- the end table, the bookshelves, everything. It looks SO nice in her house.

And I hate to brag about my access to Targets, but there are lots of cool things we don't have in Minnesota that I'm jealous of, so I will take the opportunity when I can get it. Minnesota is the land of Targets (hah! And some people thought it was the land of lakes). I live within walking distance of Super Target, and off the top of my head I can think of 10 other Targets nearby. It is wonderful.

The Greatland store near my parents house sells everything (with the exception of groceries).
My friend used to work for Target, and this is how he explained to me the different stores:
Target - one main entrance
Target Greatland - two main entrances (meaning a larger store)
Super Target - Target w/ grocery store

Yesterday was a stressful day (deadline coming up at work, car broken into, moving soon, dad just got out of hospital, etc), and so I decided to spend my Friday night at Target to relax. I don't usually get much pleasure out of shopping, but Target's different. Plus, since I need a bunch of stuff for my new apartment anyway, I figured I could let myself go a little nuts there since it's not too expensive.

I bought the same coffee table and two end tables. I love that Target stuff is reasonable AND cool. My boyfriend went with me and kept complimenting me on my taste in furniture. Plus I got a whole lot of kitchen stuff (canisters, teakettle, silverware, utensils).

Now I feel a little relaxed and can spend my Saturday working. Aaaahhh, Target!

I am sooo glad I am not the only one addicted to Target. I feel as if I should join a support group or something. I may have to have that bulls-eye logo tatooed on my arm soon. Just got my own place and it is pretty much completely furnished by Target. I love a store thatyou can walk into and get everything...I walked out the other day with 2 end tables, a fabulous wall clock, cereal, cleaning supplies, condoms and a fabulous bathing suit! LOVE IT!!!
