As a Canadian lover of Target, I sure am excited to be going to Seattle at the end of this week. Target isn't going to know what hit it after I'm done there. Good thing we have a station wagon!

I had my first ever visit to Target a few weeks ago when I crossed the border into Buffalo. I must say it was very exciting!!

My boyfriend was not as enthused to go, but when we looked at their toy department, he found some nice model cars that they sell in Canada for three times the price. So, he was very happy that we went!

I didn't buy anything since I'm broke, but I liked the clothes - especially the cute bikinis, and I loved all the housewares stuff. When I start working full time, I'm gonna go back and actually buy stuff!

I do hope they come to Canada soon!

I walked in to buy the boy undershirts. I left with:
4 pairs of panties
1 boy's polo shirt
1 boy's bathing suit
1 boy's pair of shorts
1 dress
1 shorts
12 pk of TP
What the heck? How does this always happen to me?
Oh wait, I know, I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to Target

stay away from the clothes! I am not plus size in ANY way and I still look like a giant fat dork wearing their crappy clothes. The main problem is that there is no thought to the cut what so ever. Of course, I am used to wearing mostly European clothing BUT you'll have better luck getting something that looks decent on you at the Gap. AND BEWARE the Merona knitwear - anything knitwear from Target. Bought two Merona merino wool sweaters, on clearance for like $5, assumed it was an awesome deal UNTIL I washed them and found basically a pile of merino wool string in my washing machine. Never seen such poor quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Target clothes

- The Cher0kee line makes me look boxy and awful, and should be purchased by no one.

- M0ssimo career pants are not designed for women who have hips, but their tops aren't bad. Strange, though - I bought a M0ssimo skirt in my regular size that turned out to fit a bit big in the waist.

- M0ssimo juniors' bottoms are evil, and make me feel thusly: "BLAARGH! I AM THE SCARY BLOB MONSTER FROM FROM PLANET FATULA!", which I am not. But their tops are cute.

- Lev1's juniors' jeans are awesome.

- It sucks when you buy something and see it in the clearance rack at 50% off a week later.

That is all.

I think I have found the way to not overspend at Target. Just don't give yoursef the time to dilly-dally. I had plans for somewhere i had to be and had just a certain amount of time and things to get. I did just that and it worked out perfectly. Just don't go when you have extra time on your hands. I have also set the alarm on my phone to keep myself from pointless store wandering. That can work too.

I second! Oddly enough though, the bootcut squished my big butt and stuck out at the waist band. But the "Long and Lean" cut fit my huge behind perfectly! Attention "Short and Wide" girls-try the "Long and Leans."

But how much fun is that?? That's the best part about Target--walking around and seeing how much financial trouble you can get yourself into!

Or go when you have to pee and get all the stuff you need before heading to the bathroom so you don't feel like putting all your stuff down or leaving it unattended to go. I do this for Target/grocery store (right next to each other) all the time on the way home from work, I go in there having to pee, grab the stuff I know I need, and by the time I have that I'm in a BIG hurry to get out of there.

I just did that and they will give you the difference back if you take your receipt to the courtesy counter. Every store is like that... I do it all of the time and my rule is to never ever wait for it to go on sale b/c most likely they won't have your size or color. Why risk it? Instead, I just go back and get the difference.

Technically they are not supposed to do a price adjustment on clearance items. However depending on how nice you are they might do it... I had one Target person tell me "Don't tell anyone I did this." I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't do this since you could get something at 15-30% and every few weeks take it back for a price match till you ended up at 75% off. If enough people started doing this they might stop taking Clearance stuff back altogether. I have only done this twice. Once I had found an item for $14.98. Got 4 of them for Christmas gifts. Went to another Target 4 days later and they had it for $7.48. I still had the items in my car so I asked the girl at Guest Service if they could price match. She said that it was no problem, until she realized it was clearance merchandise. She had to call a manager who ended up getting an additude and basically said I was trying to rip them off. Made me very upset because I spend at least 500-800 bucks with them a month (decorating a new house, groceries, everything!) I finally just said give me my money back then. He credited the price back to my charge card. As he started to place the item in the return bin I said, "You know what, on second though let me just keep it." He had no choice but to re-ring it up at the 75% off price. I guess maybe that's being mean but come on keep your customers happy and they will keep coming back.

When I went to Target in the US (Burlington), I was sad to see that they didn't have alot of the things from the website....the fun printed women's rainboots and a drawing table I wanted. I will know now not to get my hopes up. And they don't even ship to Canada from the website. Poop.

True, but please remember that a lot of chain stores (disclaimer: I am not a Target employee, but was an employee of a Big Chain Store©) have regulations about stuff like that, and secret shoppers that they send in to check that employees are following those regulations, and very strict policies about returns and whatnot. I'm not trying to get up on a soapbox about it, I just have a peeve about giving customer service people a hard time, having been screamed at several times about things that were store policies that the higher-ups in the Big Chain Store© were big hardasses about people following. If you they're willing to give you your $$ back without incident, great, but by no means do I think they're obligated to, since the item was not on sale at the time you bought it, and if every store had to do that, well, how would they make any money if every 2 weeks or whatever, they had to give 75% of it back?

the dollar bin at Target is like the best invention ever. In december I bought like 20 pairs of panties, last month it was all kinds of plants and such (and earth day gifts) and gardening tools, and my boyfriend bought tools for his tool collection, as well as car washing stuff, they have grilling stuff and all kinds of neat-o things....awesome!

Amen sista. They had a whole bunch of asian-themed stuff in there a while back, and I had to make myself put back half of it. Even though a lot of it is crap, there's always at least one or 2 sections of REALLY COOL STUFF.

OMG! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dollar section. However, I'm finding that I'm buying things I really truly don't need like a plastic martini shaker, pop rocks, shot glasses, and a mini lavender plant. But they were a dollar!!! So amazing and so great for little presents.

And it's even better when the dollar section is marked 75% off! (How much cheaper can I get???) I got 4 little tiny drawstring bags--they're silver, fabric, and have feathers up top (for added pizzazz). They're actually "wedding favor bags" or something like that but I thought they would be perfect for wrapping up gift cards as gifts.

I got 4 ceramic (supposed to be chinese or japanese maybe?) teacups, gorgeous asian-themed makeup bag, and some GAWGEOUS teeny purses from there - really nice stuff for little gifts. I had to make myself put back the chopsticks and the bamboo placemats and the bowls that matched the cups, as I have no house and share a kitchen w/FMIL. I also had to get boy to hold me back to keep me from purchasing ALL the martini glasses, shot glasses, some salt & pepper shakers....I need to not be allowed in that section. It's funny how I can justify spending $10 that I wouldn't spend on ONE thing I don't need on TEN things I don't need. 'Cause they were a dollar!!
