AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH, I am having a T@rget issue. We went to update our registry, and it didn't upload so our 2 hours of looking & zapping was completely wasted. So we had to go back last night, and the store was a DISASTER AREA. If I was a store or regional manager of that place I would have FLIPPED. In the baby area alone, there was merchandise on the floor, on the wrong shelves, on the wrong racks, ripped open on the floor, in the completely wrong aisles, the clothes were on the wrong racks, girl clothes mixed with boy clothes, falling off the coat hangers, multiple pieces missing from clothing sets...it was insane. That doesn't even mention the number of things that were out of stock (which yes, I know Tuesday is their typical stocking day, but that's not an excuse to have the place be a disaster area). And this was supposed to be one of the "nicer" t@rgets in the area. Then when we went to turn in the register gun thing, the customer service area was packed with carts full of stuff, garbage, one of the customer service employees was smarting off to a "guest," the registery computers were all messed up and took FOREVER to print off the registry (like we were going to leave without making sure everything showed up this time, no thank you). We bought something as well and when going through the line we were going to get a soda and the soda in the thing was HOT...H-O-T, and I told the cashier and she said "yeah, I told my manager, he doesn't seem to care," lovely, I don't think I'll be going to that t@rget location again!!!

So yeah, sigh, and I used to love T@rget so very much, its like they are going downhill, at least in this area. (Although the adult clothes were very cute despite the fact I can't wear any of them for a long while!)

Then I just flipped the t-shirt inside out and sewed up the seams. It was quick & easy, but my method was rather sloppy. Too many things could go wrong (and did on 2 of the t-shirts). You might want to check out Ohmystars.net - it has a number of different looks with good instructions and pictures.

Chitown, if you went to the one on Elston, that store get sso insane! I've heard that it's the busiest store in the whole chain. The best time to go is just as they are opening in the morning...that's been my experience. I think the one on Addison is much better, though not as large.

I went to T@rget on the weekend and bought:
these shoes
a silk shirt
a black cap sleeve shirt in a super flattering fabric
a cowl neck sleeveless with pretty print
matching asymmetrical skirt

All for $48 with tax. All of the clothes were under $7.48 except the silk shirt ($10.48), and the shoes were $11.48.

I really, really, really *heart* T@rget.

My friend just made my day!! I know I'm not alone in saying that I have a really hard time buying pants that fit (attack of the short legs!!) But, our favorite store has an online section where you can order custom jeans for only $35! Here is the link for the site.

Sigh... I'm in love!

Ohmigod that is awesome! I've been wanting to do find something like that FOREVER! (I remeber Levi used to do that, but the jeans were way more than $35).

I'm totally measuring myself and ordering some when I get home. Yay!

oh, that is so cool; way more custom than I was expecting. my biggest problem is always jeans (any pants, really) that fit in the hips but are too big at the waist, or the opposite. and of course they're always too long.

as soon as I can measure myself I'm so ordering a pair.

tangent: I always get lost when I'm trying to find the target thread, because it's in lounge despite being about much more than lounge-y stuff. like jeans.

ah, but that's not me (though I do live in Oakland). I have wide hips, but no butt to speak off. so even when pants are wide enough they get funny sagging in the rear. that's why I'm excited that for the custom jeans they ask how flat your tush is.

the only thing that concerns me is they ask for waist and bust measurements, but not hips (just "size"). for me, that's the most crucial measurement, as jeans that fit the small frame indicated by my waist and bust will not fit my hips. I'm afraid of being one of the people they mention whose proportions fall outside the range their equipment can handle.

see, i used to have the hips but no butt thing, then i grew a much bigger butt in a matter of weeks. my butt hasn't shrunk at all, so i just embrace my bootyliciousness. i don't have much T, but i've got plenty of A now, so that's way better than none of either!

I tried to order some jeans last week, and the website kept giving me a 404 error everytime I tried to check out. When I finally got it to work (sort of), everytime I went to check out, it kept erasing my order and telling me there was nothing in my cart to checkout. So wierd. When I called the 800 listed at the bottom, the guy just told me that they don't deal with the technical problems and that I couldn't place the order over the phone. It kinda of put me off. It's the first time I've ever, in 15 yrs, had a problem with Target in any regards.

But I really want me some custom jeans...

Which browser are you using? I've noticed that some features of the Target website (like the store locator) doesn't work with opera, but it works fine with IE. Just a thought.

Oooooooh!!! I am not in a position to be spending $35 on any piece of clothing right now (sad) but I need jeans and I also think custom ones are totally worth it! Has anyone actually gotten some yet? I'm curious how they fit once you get them.

does seem like if you're going to splurge on one item of clothing, it should be something custom fit.

and if you think of it as custom-tailored clothing (instead of expensive Target clothes), $35 is a pretty good deal.

but no, I haven't done it yet. I plan to though, and I will report back.

see I have the jeans sticking out at the waist thing, but all due to hips and no butt, so my underware has to be bikini and they still come up to my waist in back (ugh?) so any of you small waisted to big elsewhere ladies, please let us know how the custom jeans thing works out!

I just sent this to target's guest relations:

To Whom it May Concern:

I have a newborn baby and the last thing I am capable of doing at this point is keeping track of receipts, especially for something costing $2.19. I find it absolutely ridiculous that in order to return said item, I was only allowed to exchange it for something in the SAME DEPARTMENT. Especially given the fact that the baby section of the store is typically a disaster area and woefully understocked (this is the case in multiple Target stores). Why could I not receive a gift card and then go on my merry way to spend my $2.19 in whichever department I choose? You have my $2.19, why do you care in which department it is spent? Maybe I don't want to buy something in baby, maybe I would like to buy a potted plant.

I spend a great deal of money at Target, however, if this policy remains in place I will take my business elsewhere. With a new baby around, the last thing I am interested in doing is sifting through receipts, including gift receipts to return something when it does not suit my needs. I know I am not the only customer who feels this way as my friends and I have discussed it, and what a shame it is that Target is becoming less and less consumer friendly.

Soon to be former customer,

XXX

Its just getting to the point where its ridiculous. I can spend my money at other stores where I am not treated like scum for not being able to keep up with a receipt. They're lucky if I was able to take a shower before running out of the house. At this point, its almost worth it to pay a few cents more for an item if I know I can return it without a substantial headache. Its too bad, I really liked Target.

As a former retail worker, I have to play devil's advocate... non-receipt returns is a huge issue for stores as far as shrink is concerned. Yes, it was 2.19, but people were ALWAYS taking advantage of B0rders easy return policy by grabbing a techmanual (90-100 bucks) off the shelf, coming downstairs to the registers and claiming "no receipt" and bitching until they gave in and gave back cash (making the first-point employee look like an ass, but that's another story.)

And, actually, that's not a bad return policy. Burlington Coat Factory, for instance, doesn't give cash refunds, EVER, even if you paid cash and have the receipt. All returns are for store credit only. THAT is one that I find a little extreme, and as such, don't shop there much.

Maybe this is more a covet or score post, but I had a really successful shopping trip to the big T last weekend. For about $100 I got a belt, work shoes, 5 shell tops for work, and two for general/workout. Clearance on summer items rocks and is perfect for layered winter wardrobes

I wouldn't have minded a store credit, I minded that I couldn't even get a store credit, I had to exchange it right then and right there for something from the same department.

I love my Target, but I have a return complaint, too.

So, I bought Al a movie. A DVD. Except, I accidentally bought the full-screen edition instead of the widescreen edition.

Will somebody (anybody) tell me why I had to pay $5 more for the widescreen edition? It was, as far as I was concerned (and really, each of the 3 employees I talked to all agreed) an even exchange, but I had to pay the extra $5 + tax because that's what the system said.

I was displeased, but... I'm still going there

i hauled my butt out to target on the bus yesterday and i'm so glad i did! i bought all the bathroom-y type stuff i needed, like shampoo, toothpaste, face wash, razors, etc, and saved almost $20 on it, compared to what it costs at CVS. i also got a super cute top for $6.48 and a giant candle that smells like cookies. AND i found a giftcard in my wallet from xmas (!) so it all cost even less. life is good.

Did this change? For a while it was no returns AT ALL unless it's within 90 days AND you had the receipt or brought it back to the same store from which you bought it (and paid with a credit card) so they could look you up.

A few years ago, I bought a wedding present for a co-worker of C's. Four months later, C hadn't taken it to work, and the guy moved away, so I tried to take it back. Even though I bought it BEFORE that policy went into effect, and even though I tried to talk to the manager, no dice.

We kept it, unopened, until almost exactly a year after the wedding, the guy was stopping through town. I gave it to them as an anniversary present.

Anyway, if you can now exchange it for something in the same department, that's better than it used to be.
