The other day at Target, I tried and picked up Adidas Moves for Women. I loved it, but have yet to see how it works out for actual wearability, since I work with juvenile (male) sex offenders and somehow wearing perfume around them seems to be inappropriate to me.

I have and love Demeter Sandalwood and Belladonna for cooler months, but the scent doesn't last that long. I'm dying to try more of their scents, but I have nowhere near me that carries them, and I'm afraid of buying them online, since my body chemistry does odd things to smells sometimes.

For scents on guys, I adore Cool Water. My freshman roommie in college also bought some Abercrombie & Fitch cologne in what I think was "Woods" for her boyfriend. It was so wonderful she sprayed her sheets with it and contemplated keeping it for herself. Sadly for me, she did not keep it.

My ex boyfriend (that I still am hung up on) was highly allergic to perfumes and such and had to bathe with Dove soap. I loved the way he smelled an hour or so after a shower when his natural scent began to mingle with the scent of the soap. It wasn't a scent you could smell without being very close to him, which made it all the more special. I still can't use Dove myself b/c of the associations it carries.

Lavender is about the only thing that won't give me a screaming migraine, and sometimes it even makes them go away. I pretty much stick with bath stuff and lotion. I hate being stuck in public places with people with too much perfume; if I get a migraine, I'm screwed for the rest of the day.

to answer the question where I put it: the part in my hair, my nape, my cleavage, under the cleavage (right under the heart for max whiffage ) in my navel, backs of the knees, arch of the foot, inside of elbows, wrists, and where my thighs meet. A woman should feel free to put perfume anywhere she expects to be kissed. Now, I save this regimen for romance and big events, everyday, I just sprits my hair legs and chest. If you really want a lasting scent, buy natural oils. I actually buy mine in the liquid potpourri section for light bulb rings. I'm sure that's probably not recommended for skin, but it's $2 and works incredibly well. I'd recommend lighter scents only for this, you'll end up smelling like an apple pie if you don't. you can get hyacinth, jasmine, rose petals, rain, etc. from Walmart for $1.76 and everyone will compliment you and ask where you got it.

Nieci, that is my favorite perfume, and I recently discovered that the Sonia Kashuk "Gardenia" perfume from Target smells almost exactly like it (and it's WAY cheaper!).
If you like it, that might allow you to smell like "Michael" without breaking the my-friend-wears-this-perfume rule.

edited for spelling

Usually, I'm a Gucci Envy girl, but last night I bought a bottle of Johnson & Johnson's Bedtime Lotion, which is lavender and chamomile scented, and it smells so yummy, that I wore it today to work.

I don't usually like perfumey perfumes, but I got a sample in a magazine of DKNY Be Delicious, and I couldn't stop sniffing myself. I'm so asking for some this Xmas, as it's not out yet (I don't think) and I know it'll be too 'spensive anyways.

I'm looking for a new scent, but I can't get anywhere near a perfume counter without getting a migrane. I used to wear Perry Ellis before they discontinued it, before that I wore Anais Anais. I love Calvin Kleins contradiction, but it's way too strong. I can only wear a tiny dot of lotion & even then it's powerful. I'm wearing the B@dy Sh@p lemon tea right now, it's light & cheap, but I miss the days when I had a 'signature' scent. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a natural scent kinda gal (by natural I mean essential oils, not BO I guess that should be qualified). My fave is sandalwood, second would be patchouli (I know, it smells like dirty hippie, but I just LOVE it). I'm really digging B0dy Sh0p's S@tsum@ these days too. The boy says I smell like a creamsicle, tries to lick it off, then gets all disgusted, cuz it obviously just tastes like perfume. heehee

I hate Jessica Simpson with a passion as well.
But the thought of a perfume that smells AND tastes good, well, it's tempting.
Fess up. Has anyone tried it?

No, but I do remember the one episode of Newlyweds where Jessica was working on a tv commercial or a print ad or something for her then not-yet-released edible lotion crap. She had to taste the stuff over and over, to get it caught on film right, you know, and after an hour or two or tasting her supposedly edible body product she was sick as a dog.
[Don't judge me for knowing that! I didn't actually watch that ep, I swear, I just read the recap on Television Without Pity.]

I adore this company's perfume...

http://www.elizabethW.com

"Woods" is the one I love. Customer service is really helpful if you want to find a store near you if you don't want to order online. It's a great scent and I get lots of compliments on it. It smells like Fall in a bottle, but very fresh. I wish they were carried more widely!

Giamaria, I am also a Bark fan, but I couldn't find it anymore. Turns out they took your advice about the name. It's now called Woods by elizabethW. The Wet Leaves has been shortened to just Leaves by elizabethW. Leaves seems really green and fresh to me but I like the Woods as it's softer, more feminine? They're at http://www.elizabethw.com

I used to wear CK1 religiously. Not so much anymore. Coco Chanel and Chanel no. 5 occasionally. I used to love Chanel 22.

Bijan I wear once in a while, but it's a little sweet. Gap 'Summer' is good and grapefruity for hot days.

I want to get something new...perhaps something like 'Relaxing Frangrance" by Shiseido or 'Laundry' or 'Rain' by Demeter. Perhaps "Romance" by Ralph Lauren. I'm into lighter scents lately. I wore Liz Claiborne like a fiend in h.s., and Opium, of all things.

I used to sell cosmetics at Marshall Field's and I had buddies in Women's Fragrance..I had samples of every perfume known to womankind. It was great.

Here's a really weird thing...my cat is really tuned into perfumes. He loves some of mine and will try to lick me if I am laying on the sofa or something (gross!!). He hated this Shiseido sample I tried and would RUN out of the room if I sprayed it. What a weirdo. Has anyone else experienced this?

Spray spots: neck and wrists. Sometimes midsection.

I get so sad when a perfume I like is discontinued. Years ago Gap used to do one called Grass which smelt exactly like a fresh mown lawn (not a bong, which would be horrible). I didn't wear it often but on a perfect English summer day it was ideal. Sadly, it is no more.

I have so many bottles of perfume that smelt great in the duty-free shop in the airport but when I get them home I just don't like them. What is it about airports that makes things smell so good?

I am still wearing Eau d'Issey after years, and as I posted in the home scent thread, I also wear Shanghai Tang Ginger Lily room spray. They did introduce a perfume but it's far too strong - the room spray is very dilute and much lighter.

Anyway, I find it hard to try new perfumes because I just get overwhelmed in shops that have 800 testers trying to squirt you. If I like light scents with very slight white floral top notes, what else would I like? Those really heady old-school perfumes like Samsara and full-bodied florals are too intense for the tropics and I think citrus smells a bit too masculine. Now I've ruled out 95% of commercially-available perfumes, it's over to Digsters to recommend me a scent....

I really like the heavy perfumes. I like that they last all day. My two favorites are Samsara and Obsession. I don't wear them all the time, though. On casual days, I wear lighter "fragrance sprays" like Healing Gardens Green Tea, or this Rosewater perfume that I love.

Im a big fan of Hot Couture by Givenchy. Smells like gingery raspberries. If you like light scents, Burberry Baby Touch is divine. It smells like flowers and lavender and baby. Have you tried getting Eau du Toilette versions of perfumes instead of Eau de Parfume? I find these much better for daytime wear. My favourite Eau de Toilette perfume is Tommy Girl. Its also Alcohol free which suits my dry sensitive skin perfectly and smells yum but not too overpowering.

I absolutely LOVE regular rose water, but it doesn't smell very long. I can't smell Samsara without seeing the fold-out from the tape of R.E.M. Out of Time, cause one time, I bought that tape, and I put a little sample thing of Samsara in the bag that someone gave me, and it leaked, and the tape, wherever it is, probably STILL smells like that. So in my brain Samsara forever = R.E.M.

I really like Candie's, I got some for Christmas. I don't know how to describe it, but I like the smell, and it doesn't have that overpowering perfumey stench that gives me a headache -- it's very light.

I also really like to use scented oils, like jasmine & sandalwood, but I tend to ALWAYS put too much on and stink.

This is actually a perfume, or toilette spray, or whatever, so it lasts quite a lot longer. I can't remember what it's called. I'll check on that. Bekk, I got it at the HH pharmacy; it was really cheap.

I am normally not a perfume type of girl (I usually go for essential oils, or nothing), but I had a green tea perfume a few years ago that I was in love with, and I want to start wearing something similar. I'm off to Hecht's tonight to pick something up, but for the sake of not wandering from counter to counter, can someone recommend other brands that make a green tea perfume? That way I can know where I'm going and have a good selection to choose from.

It sounds very glamorous, but I dropped my bottle of Gucci Envy on the black marble floor of my room at the Marriott Times Square mid-December while attending an advertising conference. And I am super-sad about it, since it is my comfort scent.

But in the meantime, I'm enjoying Philosophy's Tea Party-three different scents (Lemon, Sugar, Tea) for layering. Tea doesn't react so well with my chemistry so great, but the others are super yummy.

I know you posted this forever ago, but have you seen the Demeter line of crazy scents? There are hundreds of them, including grass, wet garden (which I have and LOVE), laundromat, dirt, cotton candy, tomato , gin and tonic, a whole bunch more. They are really light and really fun--and they actually smell awesome in spite of the fact that they do smell like their names.
Here's an ugly link: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P0905&shouldPaginate=true

And on a more reasonable note, the recently reintroduced Ch@nel Gardenia is lovely.
