quote: I have read that too, and it's a nice romantic thought...but has anyone ever kissed someone on the neck (or wrist or wherever) where cologne (or perfume) has been applied? The taste is disgusting! Wonder if Coco ruined any romantic moments putting that quote to the test. I wore Bath and Body works Sun Ripened Raspberry in highschool...now I can't stand it. I wore Beautiful in college (and still do once in a great while). Now I wear Baby Doll by Yves St. Laurent just about every day. It's light and summery, with hints of grapefruit. It's perfect for any occassion. When I need a change I also like W from Banana Republic. It reacts really well with my body chemistry. When I feel like smelling older and sophisticated I wear John Paul Gautier (the bottle shaped like a corset) or Paris. For dates or going out on the town, I like Allure...men swoon and always ask what I'm wearing. In fact, I was once at a perfume counter in France (I thought perfume would be cheaper there...I was wrong) trying to pick something out and a man nearby said to me "Get the Allure. It's incredible. I love it. Men love it." Perfume is one of my fetishes. I love the perfume counters in big department stores. IP: Logged |

I love, love, love Demeter perfumes. I'm totally addicted to their "Martini" scent right now. Wear it during the evening when I want to feel a little dirty. Yum. IP: Logged |

I am currently obsessed with GloomAway from Origins. I know the name is not very sexy, but the perfume smells like grapefruit and it's so happy-smelling! It wakes me up when I'm slogging off to work. IP: Logged |

quote: same here. LOVE the martini one. don't have it, though. i have the gin and tonic one. mmmm. besides that, i wear lotus flower from l'occitane en provence (tho i am starting to think it smells old-lady-ish), the relaxing green-bottle perfume from shiseido. also have remnants of white musk from the body shop, i wore that throughout high school and most of college, along with the gap blue in the square bottle. my new favorite is glamorous from ralph lauren. i have itty-bitty samples. i'm actually looking for a new perfume. no luck yet. I just got "Desire" by Alfred Dunhill as a gift. I'm pretty picky about how I like to smell--and I love this stuff. Really spicy and classic. I was working over someone's shoulder this morning and reached out to point at something on her monitor. She grabbed my wrist and sniffed it and said, "Oh, yum!" Pity she's 55 and married... To answer the original questions, however: I generally give myself one spritz on a wrist, rub them together, then rub them on either side of my neck. I don't like to use more than that. I tend to be a one-scent guy. I used Geoffrey Beane's "Grey Flannel" for about 5 years until my sisters staged an intervention and said I was too young to be wearing such an old-man scent. I thought it smelled classic and refined. However. Then I used Nautica cologne & aftershave for about 3 years (excellent citrusy kind of smell). Then I used Givenchy's "Pi" for 2 years (the citrus I liked so much from Nautica, plus some spice). For the past 18 months, I've used Egoist from Channel (good call, Raga--I still like it), and have about 1/3 to 1/2 of a bottle left. Now I have this "Desire" stuff which is really good, so I don't know if I should shelve Egoist for now or just sort of decide what mood I'm in each morning. Know what I did last week? I was feeling nostalgic for the beach, so I went out and bought some Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil to slather on myself. Not to get tan, but just for the scent. I smell like the beach. ![]() I must say, it is a little bit sticky, though. [This message has been edited by Twistergirl (edited 08-16-2002).] IP: Logged |

I currently love Gap's Love no. 14, but it was only a seasonal thing and something I don't think they'll bring back. I used to wear Clinique back in the day then I switched to Ralph Lauren Polo Sport for Women, but grew tired of that too. I'm thinking of getting Clinique Happy soon and maybe Demeter Angelfood. Hmmmm

I am so jazzed...my friends bought me a custom perfume for my birthday. They answered questions about my looks, personality, etc. and ta-da, they make a perfume for me! I'll let you know how it goes. I love perfume, I so hope it turns out well. Just 4 weeks 'til it arrives! IP: Logged |

I know that this might be rad but what about just dabbing a freshly cut bit of the ginger root on your skin. I'm told it smells just like the real thing! I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get some nice lite oil and 'pickle' some root in it. IP: Logged |

YSL Nu is a really decadent winter scent (and cool bottle). A friend just introduced me to Hugo Boss Dark Red for women, i think it's a pretty sexy, musky smell. Ghost, the fragrance from an English design team which i haven't seen anywhere outside of England (or at least not in North America) is a sweet more summery smell and I like it but I don;t love it...however, everytime I wear it someone (whether I know them or not) compliments me on it. but the most THE MOST compliments I've ever gotten from a perfume is Body Shop mostly musk perfume. I think they've discontinued it, though white musk probably still sells, and is pretty much the same thing. its a bit heavy though, good for winter as well. and i like to spritz the chest area, and then do the walk through the mist thing for "good luck". works for me. For everyday wear, I like Truth by Calvin Klein. It's not too strong, and I never smell the same as anybody else. For going out or visiting the boy, I wear Allure. It makes me feel, well, alluring. IP: Logged |

I love heavy perfumes. My husband prefers light girly ones. Anyway right now I'm wearing Champs-Elysees by Guerlain. When I'm done with it I want to get Chance by Chanel. I also love, love love, Mon Petit Cherie by Annik Goutal and Lolita Lipnicka. IP: Logged |

I am so excited to get to start wearing my perfume again! I wear Ellen Tracy and I think it's a little too heavy for summer. However, it doesn't seem to smell the same as it did last year... I think it's because I have changed medications and my body chemistry is different now. Humpfh. Guess I will have to go and try to find a NEW fragrance!!

I also wear Clinique Happy when I am feeling low or need to wake up, though now that it's getting cold, that one might get shelved for a bit. I wore patchouli oil religiosly for a long time and still wear it occasionally. I also love this jasmine one I have from the healing garden. everytime i wear this one, I get so many compliments from guys. However, My absolute favorite, I call it my grownup perfume, is Chanel No.5. I never was going to spend 54 dollars on perfume for myself but i got a 30 gift certifcate to JC Penney for my bday and remembered that they carried Chanel. I would spend 20 dollars on perfume if it is something I really like. I love love love this perfume. At first I was going to save ti for only special occasions, but I feel so good when I wear it that even to wear it to work makes me feel good. I usually do the spray on my neck and wrists and sometimes dab behind my ears. IP: Logged |

The first perfume I ever wore regularly was CKOne, and it was a gift from a friend for my sweet 16. It's not around much anymore, but whenever I smell it I am immediately transported back to high school! Since then, I've worn Acqua Di Gio (my bf wore the same, in the manly version of course) and then Ralph. The two current loves of my life are Butterfly by Hanae Mori (for day) and Black Cashmere by Donna Karan (for night.) I like spicy sents a lot now. My mom and bf think Black Cashmere smells like church (it smells like patchouli) but I get tons of compliments on it from everyone else! IP: Logged |

I just bought a bottle of Ralph (by, obviously, Ralph Lauren). I had recieved a sample of it last year and horded and horded it- and when it ran out a few weeks ago, I decided I liked it enough to buy it (that's saying a lot!). Besides loving the scent, it stays on me forever. I can still smell it on me at the end of the day. There must be something with my body chemistry, because most perfumes don't last long on me. I love that this stuff stays all day. IP: Logged |

I've worn Jessica McClintock since I was 16. The scent is clean and subtle, but oh so yummy! and the great thing about this perfume is that though I spray behind my ears and chest it's faint, so the only way someone can smell me is if they're very, very close. I guess it's my signature scent, everyone always remembers how I smell. It's my absolute favorite scent in the world, and what's funny is that a lot of my not-so-close male friends used to say that I smelled like an old woman. Every boyfriend I've ever had has loved the way I smell...I guess they're into old ladies!

I just received my first ever Chanel perfume! Not from a boy, unfortunately, but from a Parisian family friend who has a real talent for choosing perfume. (It's the fifth or sixth bottle of perfume she offers me in the past twelve years or so) Here's a description of the perfumes I currently own (some of them gathering dust in a box unfortunately): I know, I'm totally spoiled [This message has been edited by kena (edited 03-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

Most perfume smells wrong to me. But I ended up with a sample of Eau d’orange Verte by Hermes when my luggage went to another city and Air France gave me a toiletry kit. I bought a big bottle on the flight home. I don’t remember to wear it everyday, but I really like it. It doesn’t last super long, but I thought that was because it was a cologne not a perfume. I’d like a chance to check out the other fragrances in the Hermes line. [This message has been edited by Bureinato (edited 03-04-2003).] IP: Logged |

Never had a signature scent. All time fave is a light, flowery perfume I got at a street market in Spain - Yuba. Love the Victoria's Secret body lotions (mmm... Strawberries and Champagne) but haven't smelled their perfumes. Anybody else intimidated by the perfume counters at department stores? Where do you buy your scent? IP: Logged |

I wear Coco Mademoiselle. It's a real splurge on my part ($65 for a small bottle), but I love it--it's light and warm at the same time. My grandmother always wore Chanel No. 5, which I also love, but it's little strong for me. IP: Logged |
