Yay, I finally got a haircut this weekend...It had been since Christmas, so my hair was all ugly and below-the-chin length. Now it's nice and short again -- right below the earlobe. I feel so much cleaner! It makes me look more put-together, since I always do a crappy job drying my hair, and when my hair is short it makes it cute and flippy, but when it's longr it's just weird looking.

i used to have super long hair and then chopped it off to my shoulders when i was in high school (this was eight years ago) and then it was as if it became an addiction! i just kept cutting it shorter and shorter until when i finally got to college 6 months later (after probably 10 haircuts) it was about 3/4 inch long and bedheadish...now i've been growing this stupid mess out since thanksgiving 2000 and it's past my shoulders and i can't stand it! it's always in a ponytail or pigtails because i can't handle anything sitting on my neck...blah. but i've put so much effort into growing it out that i just can't chop it all off...
besides, i lost my hairdresser (he moved to another salon and i don't know where!)...urgh. but the worst part about long hair is that you can see all my gray hairs! even after dying my hair! they're all long and stick up funny. at least with short hair they weren't so noticable...
this thread makes me want to get rid of all this hair!

I'm getting the itch to cut my hair off. Well, not all off, about to chin length. Its nearly to my bra strap now... I've had it up in a pony for the last couple days and its really annoying me. We'll see...

I need desperately to cut my hair. I've had it long all my life and though i love it, it is a pain. I'm too terrified to get it cut short though. I've really only had it cut short once before (about 2 years ago) and it was so cute but i was thinner then. I'm afraid my face will just look too rounded if i get it cut short. My face is supposedly one that most hairstyles will look good on me but I can't seem to find one i like that doesn't look too complicated (i still haven't mastered the art of the round brush).

Right now my hair is down to my bra strap (it used to be almost to my butt). I have to drive a little over an hour to and from work every day and i love my sleep so my normal routine is get up REALLY late, take a quick shower and throw it in a pony tail. Does anyone have any ideas for a short/medium hairstyle that's easy to do but still cute or am i asking too much? Did i mention my hair is medium thick and stick straight and hates curl?! Help!

That's totally a myth. Short hair has a thinning affect.

Maybe something kind of layered and playful that's not supposed to look "just so" would be good. Those hairstyles can be easy to take care of.

I have the same problem as DragonGurrrl, but my hair is fine and very curly. What to do besides the usual?

See, Dragongurrl has the hair I want -- nice and straight and thick enough....*ah*
no blowdrying! Get a slightly layered bob, funky rather than cutesy. You can rub a little stuff in the ends for texture and go -- i have to blow mine out every day, and on a day like today it gets frizzy.
So Mitsuyan, I don't know what to tell you. Mine is fine and pretty curly, but I've trained it to be straighter because I blow it out all the time. Since it's fine it dries very fast -- 8 minutes tops, usually about 5. In the picture of me in the "Let's see those faces" thread it is longer, I keep it between ear and mouth length now. I avoid layers because I don't want to straighten my hair completely and with the thin curly thing it seems a little poodlish if it air dries in layers. Undercut a little bit (make the back underneath layer a little shorter) if that hair is straighter, which is often the case -- it makes it flip under more when it's straightened and keeps the straighter hair from peeking out when it's curly.
But the shorter my hair is, the easier it is to put some gel or creme in and smooth with my fingers every so often while it's air drying to a flippy little thing.

Mitsuyan, I know a girl who has curly hair that is cut to about the nape of the neck in the back, with stacked layers, and shorter in front (the shortest pieces are to her eyebrows, I'm guessing). I absolutely love her hair. The curls aren't super tight, though, so if yours are, I'm not sure how that would look. Argh, I wish I had a picture to show you.

If you do a google search on either "hair styles" or "hairstyles" though, it will bring up a ton of sites with pictures. I looked through a bunch the other day after reading through this thread and having doubts about growing my hair out. I'm a styling product junkie, and all my waxes, gels, and pomades are gathering dust now that my hair's to the jawline. *sob*
