Countdown to an 8:00
Valentine’s Day dinner |
Day before …
Go shopping for ingredients. Dressing and tapenade can also be
made the night before.
5:30
p.m.
• Prepare the tomato topping and tapenade for the bruschetta. Make
salad dressing.
• Toast pine nuts for the salad, and wash strawberries – slice four
strawberries for the salad, and save the remainder for dessert.
• Prepare the brie for the pasta by removing the rind and cutting it
into cubes.
• Wash up your dishes/ load the dishwasher.
Finished with all that? (It should take 45 min. or so). Take a break and get ready for your date.
7:00
p.m.
• Soak sun-dried tomatoes in hot water for the pasta.
• For the bruschetta: Pre-heat the oven to 375F. Slice the baguette
and prepare it for toasting.
7:15
p.m.
• Set a big pot of water to boil for the pasta. Mince garlic. Drain
the sun-dried tomatoes (which should be softened) and chop roughly. Wash
and dry the basil leaves.
7:30
p.m.
Set the table, adjust the lighting, pop in a few CDs (if you haven’t
already).
7:45
p.m.
• Add the pasta to the boiling water.
• Toast the bread.
• Sauté the garlic, tomatoes + basil for the pasta.
• Finish bruschetta by topping
3 slices with tapenade, 3 slices with the tomato mixture. Set out on a
plate.
• Mix cooked pasta with brie cubes and sauté mixture. Transfer to an attractive serving bowl, or
serve onto two plates.
8:00 p.m.
• Enjoy your meal!
After dinner …
• Whip cream for strawberries.
• Arrange the washed strawberries on a pretty plate. Serve the whipped
cream in a martini glass, margarita glass, or a pretty bowl.
