living
arrangements | Housed
on the upper two floors of a converted Victorian, the apartment
offers old house charms like wood floors and high ceilings
… along with not-so-fabulous period features like narrow
rooms strung off long dark hallways. Though it’s far and away
the largest place we’ve lived in, our previous places have
been more open plan; figuring out how to work with smaller
box-like spaces has been a bit of a challenge. Angling furniture
– like the 70s-era lounge chair (scored off
Craigslist) and TV cart – helps create a comfortable living
space that offers
plenty
of room
to actually
navigate
around the furniture, and fosters a seating arrangement that’s
as good for conversation as it is for gathering around the
tube. Meanwhile, going bold with color helps inject plenty
of personality into this rental space. >
