mixers + garnishes…
Obviously, you don’t need fresh
limes to make a margarita—mixes being so easy to use—but its not a
whole lot more effort to squeeze the juice fresh, and you’ll impress
your guests with a classy drink far superior to the typical,
sickly-sweet versions most people are used to. In general, I recommend
using fresh lemon and lime juice, as these fruits are fairly cheap, and
having them on hand will also provide you with some garnishes.

glassware…
There are many, many, many glass
shapes out there, each supposedly the only "right" shape for
serving certain drinks. But most of us have just recently [if at all]
graduated from using those big plastic cups for all our entertaining
needs, so I suggest starting off with the very basics.

tall glass [official names: highball, collins]
