grapefruit & cherry salad
¼ to ½ large grapefruit per person, peeled, sectioned, and chopped
1 to 2 jars of drained maraschino cherries OR bags of frozen cherries, thawed
¼ cup Cointreau or other orange-flavored liquor
1 tbsp sugar

Dissolve sugar in liquor. Place fruit in large bowl, pour liquor mixture over, toss to coat.

broiled figs with parmesan
12 ripe figs, any kind
Ripe parmesan cheese (not the powdered in a can kind)

Gently wash figs and slice in half. Top each half with a paper-thin slice of parmesan. Place under a pre-heated broiler for 2 or 3 minutes, or until cheese is golden. Makes 24 hors d'oeuvres.

chocolate fondue
Adapted From LHJ.com Recipe Center
(Requires a fondue set – someone you know has one.  Ask around.)

8 oz dark chocolate
1/2 cup heavy cream
tsp. Kahlúa

Break chocolate into small pieces and place in a small saucepan, together with whipping cream.  Heat the mixture gently, stirring constantly until the chocolate has melted and blended with the cream.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in Kahlúa. Pour into fondue pot or a small dish and keep warm over a small burner.
